I made a 'Shaker Card' card. I created a port window using the Layering Circle framelits and a circle of Window Sheet. All elements inside and on the card have been created using the Sea Of Textures suite. Can you see the little blue fish in the background with the octopus 😍  cute eh !?!
This card would be perfect for those starting out on a new journey in life, travelling or even a new job.
This got me thinking about life journeys and/or travelling and how a lot of us like to keep journals. Some of us even like to keep art journals.

So here is my 'Art Journal'.

I also created a place mark to match, I was going to add tabs to the books pages as well, but basically, I ran out of time.

The port window on the cover is an exact replica of the one on the card front, so yes it is a shaker 😂
I decided that the net should be silver but textured. To achieve this effect I cut two net piece from Thick Whisper White and then smeared 'Silver Embossing Paste' with a 'Palette Knife' and left to dry. Once dry I chopped it randomly and glued into position on  the cover.

This journal has blank pages except one. The first page only has been stamped with memento black ink using the stamps from the 'Sea Of Textures' stamp set.

As you can see I even added a little pocket inside the cover to keep any little notes and/or ephemera picked up along a journey.

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop - Sweet Soirée

When CASEing we decide on certain elements to keep. Sometimes it can be just as simple as being inspired by a layout, or even the placement of the sentiment.

The elements I chose to use were 

• The silhouette focal, which was my special scrap piece that I just couldn't throw away! *Can you pick which set it's from?
• The banners
• and the Best Birds

I chose to use the absolutely gorgeous Sweet Soirée DSP and matching ribbon as my design base.

I picked the stunning Berry Burst floral sheet which has Calypso Coral with silver dots on the reverse side.
I did wonder how I was going to tie in my black silhouette (*Eclectic Layers Thinlits) with such vibrant colours, without over powering the DSP.
The gorgeous DSP as a background also proved to be slightly problematic as it is very busy.
So, I decided that vellum sheet over the reverse DSP as a banner duo would help break it up nicely.
I think I have achieved a perfect mix of busy, while drawing your eye to the focal and created a beautifully striking card.

To step each card up I added a stitched shape circle backed with a scalloped circle in co-ordinating colours.

I also added splatters of the ink that matches the card stock trim. Then splatters of Wink of Stella, which didn't pick up in the photo's, sorry 😔

 The cutie -pie above has been trying hard to fly, but lost his grip on some of his balloons and is now floating gently back to earth.

The ribbon around the sentiment is actually white organza ribbon that has been coloured with a stampin' write marker then left to dry.

To make the backgrounds even more interesting I created a small scene and then added shadows to the adorable pandas using Aqua Painters and ink pads.

This eager to please little guy can't wait to give you his card, just look at his sweet round face! I think the confetti may have fallen out of his envelope already!

 And finally I added little lines, this gives the impression of movement. 

This little guy has just slid into view, just to wish you Happy Birthday, lol. Not sure what he was up too before he arrived, but he does look a little mischievous!

Basic Directions

• The base for this card is Crushed Curry with a layer of Thick Whisper White for the front.
• The sunflower has been stamped using Elegant Eggplant and Crushed Curry. 
• This has then been fussy cut and set aside to add later.
• I punched out the leaves using the matching leaf punch also set aside to add later.
• The background has been stamped using the lattice from Graceful Garden stamp set in Basic Grey.
• Stamp the flower shadow stamp in elegant eggplant over the top of the lattice stamped image.
• Place your fussy cut sunflower and leaves with dimensionals and glue.
• I have added black Rhinestones to finish found on page 53 of the new 2017 Holiday Catalogue.
