Stampin Dreams Blog Hop - CASEing the Catty

This is the card from the catalogue which I have chosen to CASE and can be found on pg 176

It uses the fabulous Embossing Paste and  the Pattern Party Decorative Masks along with the Feather Together stamp set.

Basics of the card.

The card base is Thick whisper white and the layer is Elegant Eggplant.
The embossing paste has been coloured with Elegant Eggplant and Dapper Denim. 
The feathers were stamped using differing layers and stamping off before stamping onto the card stock in Elegant Eggplant.  
I overlaid the focal with Vellum just to soften the impact of the purple colour and make the sentiment stand out.
I also heat embossed the paste in silver to add sparkle and movement in direct light.

The Dapper Denim twine was added along with the metallic sequins just to add some textural elements and interest points.
The inside was created using the Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White in layers. T
o carry the theme through to the inside I stamped a single feather inside, using the same technique as the front.

You Make me Smile - Embossing Paste and Masks - #CI12

Today I have been playing with my embossing paste and mixing it with some pretty colours from the Colour Inkspiration Challenge #CI12

We have a range of colours to choose from this week

Whisper White, Night Of Navy, Elegant Eggplant, Cherry Cobbler, Flirty Flamingo, Dapper Denim, Smoky Slate and Peekaboo Peach.

I chose to use Elegant Eggplant, Dapper Denim, Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Whisper White.

Here are my cards. I actually made two!

using Eastern Medallions

My card base is Flirty Flamingo and my card front is whisper white. I used a layer of silver foil to add extra interest.

For the card above I used the Eastern Medallions thinlits to make masks with acetate.

I used my ink pads sponging onto clear blocks then added a dollop of Embossing Paste to each block. Mixing each colour I applied it to the mask and paper underneath. I slightly overlapped each colour, this mixed the colours slightly to give a different shade or completely different colour.

After all of the embossing paste was dry I cut a medallion in vellum. I then went searching for my stitched shapes thinlits....Oh No! I couldn't find them...

I kept looking and ended up cleaning my whole craft room while trying to find them 😲 all to no avail. I have lost them 😢

So I used the layering circle thinlits instead for my sentiment.

For the larger medallion I used the Pattern Party Decorative Masks. My card base for this card is Elegant Eggplant with Whisper White for the card front.

I used the left over embossing past to create this card and even then I still had a little left over, so I made one more card base. But unfortunately I didn't get time to finish that card. Hopefully later 😊

I added the3 elegant eggplant as a layer underneath the vellum for this card as the vellum just wasn't enough.

The sentiment for both cards is from the Eastern Palace stamp set.

I finished the large medallion card by adding the enamel shapes in Elegant Eggplant

Isn't this just gorgeous!?! For the smaller medallion card I used the metallic enamel shapes. These shapes are such an easy way to pimp out a card. Don't you think

The awesome thing with the embossing paste is it can be coloured using your re-inkers...Or your ink pads on your silicon mat. 

Add ink use a spatula and place the ampunt of embossing paste ontop of the ink and mix.

It can be used on it's own as above or with our Stampin' Up!® stencils/masks.

Spread it where you want it and let dry.  It's that simple !

To get my card above I actually was playing with the stamp set called Background Bits (pg 220- - 144029) and the challenge colours... I wasn't happy with what I was doing, so I die cut the pieces into elements for other cards.

This was my first card (below) that I made using my die cut elements...

I thought I would share just to show that we all make things sometimes that just don't seem to come together how we want!

Basically I was not feeling overly creative when I decided to 'PLAY'. Sometimes playing gets my creative juices flowing...And it worked. As I made the card which this post is actually about lol!

I decided that this card was just too busy, plus the yellow cardstock was the wrong colour hahaha. 

I don't hate it...who am I kidding, yes I do!...It's awful hahaha.. 😱

I also used the embossing paste on this card....on the Daisy and the background. 

I made my own mask for the daisy. And for the background area, well I was just trying to cover up some of those Cajun flowers lol.
Hmmm yup.
