Go For Greece Blog Hop - Blended Seasons

Hello and welcome to Kylie's Go For Greece training group blog hop.

The groups name says it all, we are all part of a FB group with the aim of trying to reach the Stampin' Up! incentive trip. We help and support other through each step and cheer those that make the trip along.

My project today has been created from a bundle that is only available during the month of August.
It's a Limited Edition bundle called 'Blended Seasons'

I find this bundle absolutely and TOTALLY AMAZING!
I have created Christmas cards, Wedding cards, Window cards and now a card created for a friend using the leaves stamp.

Here is my project for today's hop.

Friend

I created this card at a demonstrator friends place only last weekend. I actually made a mistake while I was stamping with the Bright Bronze shimmer paint. I moved the paper with my fingers, so my shimmer painttt and my leaves do not line up 😑 I do silly things like that ALLLLLL the time haha.

But, I decided I was going to use it anyway!

I used the splatter from the 'Swirly Bird' stamp set and added Bright Copper Shimmer Paint to a sponge Dauber. I daubed the copper onto the splatter stamp and created my background.
I glued this onto my Whisper White card base
I mounted the die cut label on Dimensionals and glued the other leaves into position.
I stamped another two sets of leaves and coloured them using my Stampin' Blends and fussy cut them out. I then die cut 2 leaves in copper and popped them over the top of the largest leaves slightly offset. I masked one of the sentiments as all I wanted was the word 'Friend' and inked it in Old Olive.

I have to say I am really impressed with how my mistake turned out. What do you think?

This card uses a couple of simple techniques such as masking, colouring and fussy cutting. These and so many more techniques are part of my monthly classes and down line meetings/crafting sessions.

For me, holding classes gives me regular contact with my customers. It also makes me think outside the box so I can keep new people arriving and learning the joys of stamping.
Teaching techniques and watching others create projects from scratch is something I live for. Seeing the look on their faces when they realise that they, THEY are doing it...gets me every time.
The monthly team meetings also gives me a chance to keep my team members up to date with whats happening and offer help or advice if required.

Ok enough about me and what I love. I am sure you are searching for the hop list so you can keep moving through.

To keep moving through the hop please click the link directly after my name . Unless you have reached the end lol, then feel free to go round again and perhaps leave some comments on those projects you love x

Here is the Challenge Palette for #CI39

The colour choices this quarter are just amazing.
The NEW SUBTLES collection! The new collection has a couple of the new colours mixed in.
You get to choose ANY 3 of these gorgeous colours for this challenge, plus you can add to your mix any of Basics colours (White, Black or Very Vanilla) or the Metallics.

Here are my chosen colours from the Subtles collection above for #CI39

I tried mixing techniques for my card today.

The Bokeh Technique
and
Acetate Embossed Overlay

Here is my Project.

For my card base I used a technique called Bokeh. I have seen people buy templates and even make their own templates to create this technique, but I always find the easiest way to achieve this look is by using our good old Stampin' Up!® Sponge Daubers and our gorgeous rich inks 😊

I taught myself the Acetate Embossed Overlay. Using a piece of Window Sheet (Acetate) to create a clear overlay.
Now this was tricky, but I was super impressed with how it looks. Especially for my first try.
The window sheet is used as an overlay for my Bokeh background.

Want to give Heat Embossing on Window Sheets a try?

You emboss it exactly the same as you would on normal cardstock right up until the heating point. The heating point to melt/gloss the embossing powder is the stage where you have to be VERY PATIENT and CAREFUL.
If you try to work to fast you will warp the acetate sheet.
  • Dust Acetate with Embossing Buddy
  • Stamp image in Versamark
  • Dust with chosen Embossing powder and tap off excess. You might need a brush to get excess powder off closer to the image.
  • *Hold the heat tool roughly 5-6" from the window sheet and wave over the powdered/embossed area 2-3 times and then remove heat tool from the area*
  • Let acetate sheet cool before repeating steps.
  • Repeat this until all the embossing powder has melted and gone glossy.
  • Once cooled wipe GENTLY with a clean cloth to remove the Buddy dust.
TIPS *
  1. You must have your heat tool HOT before starting to melt the embossing powder. So make sure you warm it up before waving over the powder on your window sheet.
  2. Don't move the heat tool around slowly like you would on cardstock. If the tool stays in one place too long it will melt and warp your window sheet. Too fast is also not going to get results! It is roughly the pace of a conductor conducting a waltz? If that helps at all lol.
Trial and error is always the best teacher.

I do hope you liked my little project for you today.
I hope it inspired you to try some new colours and techniques.

Up next we have sharing her beautiful inspirations the gorgeus Tanya Bell.
