Falling Papillons - #CI02

Hello everyone :)
Welcome back to my blog.
I have been quite busy these last few days creating a number of cards.
I have created one for a colour challenge, one for a blog hop and one for a on order, with  another 3 cards still half made lol...I also have another order to make a start on plus try and fit in another challenge...
Why do I particpate in challenges!?! I have had that question asked of me a number of times!
One of my main reasons for participating, is for the inspiration that you get. Seeing a colour combination that I wouldn't normally choose, really gets my mind ticking and my creative juices flowing.
Today's colour challenge from Colour INKspiration has been a real challenge as they are definitely colours I wouldn't normally put together.

They are soft cool colours that remind you if succulents, and not just because of the picture below lol

Image may contain: plant and food

I really did struggle for nearly a week, as I wanted to use all 5 of the colours!
Putting them all together in a way that blended nicely proved to be really difficult for me. But as with most things I gave it some time, slept on it for a few days......pulled out stamp sets, then put them all back again haha. Nothing seemed to jump out at me and scream - ME USE ME!!!
UNTIL
I finally had a little idea forming.

I thought that some of the stamps from our annual catalogue were being forgotten, with all the other gorgeous stamp sets that have just been released. And because Stampin' Up's! stamp sets are so readily mixed and matched I thought I would blend some old and new together

Soooo yesterday I thought to my self, Just Do It!
Only just finished it, like 10 minutes ago lol

Here is my card ;)

Falling Papillons

With this card I decided not to have a sentiment. This was mainly due to wanting to keep the card clean and keep the focus on the colour and design..

To make this pretty card I distressed the edges of the Whisper White (140490) front.
I then stamped three colours slightly staggered with the paint brush stamp from the Sealed With Love stamp set (142815). These ink colours were Wisteria Wonder (126985), Mint Macaron (138326) and Soft Sky (131181).
Over this I stamped the flourish in Garden Green ink (126973) from the Falling Flowers Bundled set (142329).
I also stamped and die cut the smallest flowers 4 times, fussy cutting just two so I could layer to add more dimension.
I then stamped and punched the butterflies (Papillons) from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set (123759) in the corresponding colours. 1 of both size.
I glued the smallest one to the top of it's mate and placed them on dimensionals (104430) above the paint mark images.
I added a rhinestone to the middle of both flowers and in the area of the curled leaves in parts of the flourish.

For the cards base I used Garden Green (108605)

Just to carry the theme through to the inside just a little, I stamped the flourish again off the paper. I added the small flower stamped image and a rhinestone to complete.

TIP*

If like me you don't yet own all the ink pad colours invest in some re-inker and sponges! You can add colour to your stamps just by applying a few little drops to a clear block, spreading out with a sponge then use your stamp like normal but onto the inked clear block. You can even out any patchiness by using the sponge!

Falling For Dragonfly's- #CI01

Howdy :)
Welcome back to my blog.
You know one of the things I love about Stampin' Up! ???
I love how everything of theirs coordinates with each other and blends together.
Today's card features 2 different stamp sets + some embellishments from the Cupcakes and Carousals suite.

My inspiration for this card came from the colours over at Colour Inkspiration #CI01. They have a colour challenge this week and those colours are just scrumptious....They look so good grouped together in the picture below

I have used all of the six colours on offer...I decided that these gorgeous colours would make a beautiful background.
So, I sponged each of the colours onto whisper white, blending and building slowly until I got the depth of colour I desired.

This card is going to be part of my upcoming event to be held in my home (N.E Tasmania) For dates and more info please click

I used two stamp sets, can you pick which ones!?!
NO!?!

O.K !

I will tell you what they are.

The background stamp set is from the Falling in Love Suite and is called 'Falling For You' and the Dragonfly and the sentiments are from the 'Dragonfly Dreams' bundle. The sequins and the sentiment plaque I grabbed from the pack of 'Cupcakes and Carousel Embellishments Kit.
The sequins reflect different shades and colours and I think, adds that extra dimension + a little bit more glamour.

'HIGH TIDE' is the set I have chosen to use for the card challenge over at Global Design Project this week for #GDP069
The challenge this week is a colour challenge, here are the colours.

I chose Basic Black for my free colour and used Smokey Slate as a matt silver.
I highlighted the Smoky Slate with Silver Embossing Powder for a two tone silver effect.

HERE IS MY CARD

I made up a couple of  partially done fronts, just to help show you some of the steps below.

#Hightide #Shinebright #Mylittlelight #Lighthouse #Handmadecards #Australianmade #KOCreationscards #GDP069 #Saleabrationtime

  1.  Stamp both of your base images with Smoky Slate.
  2. Using the Embossing Buddy lightly dust the base image. Then stamp the second part of the Light House with Versamark ink and place over the first image.
  3. Using the sand image, lightly ink the egdes (rock'n'roll technique) with the versamark ink and re-stamp over your base colour.
  4. Dust the silver embossing powder over the ink, lightly tapping of the excess.
  5. Heat with heat tool.
  6. Stamp the birds with Smoky Slate.
  7. Using the Delighful Dijon ink pad ink up the light beam image from the set. Stamp off onto a scratch piece of paper and then stamp the beam where wanted on your image.
  8. Repeat this step above and below the first light beam image.
  9. Stamp your sentiment in black first, wiping the ink off with wipe where you want to replace with Delighful Dijon.
  10. Stamp again with delightful Dijon, wiping off excess from where it isn't needed.
  11. Now once again using the Delightful Dijon and the Sand image, dab the colour lightly around the outer edges and stamp.
I thought this last step helped to add just a touch more of colour to the image and gave a lighted effect to the sand also.

Touches Of Texture PPA314 - A Sketch by Amy Lazzell

PPA314 – A Sketch by Amy Lazzell

Hello!

welcome back to my blog

I have had a little break from creating for a while and am now ready to jump right back into the thick of things.
I was umming and ahhing a little as to what to create when I found this gorgeous sketch over at Pals Paper arts

I kept the basics of the above design for my card, just flipped it on it's side.
I had been using the gorgeous Cherry Cobbler colour earlier, so I thought I would keep with that colour & use it as a base for this design.

Well enough chit chat

Here is my card.

'Touches Of Texture'

#Butterflybasics #Touchesoftexture #Gorgeousgrunge #KOCreationscards

How I made 'Touches Of Texture'

  • I cut my base card to 10.5 cm x 15 cm
  • Added a layer of Vellum stamped with the 'Gorgeous Grunge' Splatter stamp in Versa Mark and Silver embossing powder. This was adhered to the card base using my Snail Adhesive.
  • I then chose Very Vanilla to use as the top layer to display my stamping and layout.
  • For the first line going horizontally across the design I used the netting stamp from the 'Touches of Texture' set. This was inked using the colour Basic Grey. I centered it then stamped a little to the left leaving enough room for the second stamp.
  • I used the fern from 'Butterfly Basics' to lay the vertical line stamping in Pear Pizzazz.
  • I thought that the horizontal lines needed some more texture so I added a piece or Burlap ribbon. To get the effect I have used above I pulled a thread from one end holding the other end quite firmly to gather, then glued all in place using a hot glue gun.
  • I stamped the Bee from Touches of Texture and used my Stampin Write Markers to color.
  • I used the flower from Butterfly Basics for this card. To get this effect for my flower, I started by stamping in Versa Mark. Then without wiping the stamp, stamp again into Black Stazon. Dust the image quickly, using the Clear Embossing Powder. This makes the Black lines look dusty. After tapping off the excess, gently with a light tap on the back of the card with your finger nail, heat with your heat tool until all is clear again. This makes delicate items like the flower stems easier to fussy cut. It can also stop colour from spreading where you don't want it.
  • I wanted to bring the base colour to the fore again, so I used  my Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write marker and Aqua Painter to colour the flowers. Layering the colour for depth. I added Clear 'Wink of Stella' to each flower petal for that little bit of zing and pizzazz.
  • I finished this card by stamping on a small piece of Vellum the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment from 'Butterfly Basics' in Versa Mark then Cherry Cobbler. Using the same method as above.
  • Using Stampin Dimensionals I placed the front onto the Vellum. To finish this pretty design I used mid size 3 Rhinestones in the top right corner of the Very Vanilla front..

You Are My Anchor

You Are My Anchor

I drew inspiration from a couple of different places for my cards today. One place was from a card I saw earlier Friday evening on Kylie Bertucci's Blog Highlights, Carolina Evans created a card that incorporated layered torn papers.

Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge #PPA303
Sketch By Shawn de Oliveira
Sketch From Teneale Williams
I used the sketch from #GDP038 to incorporate the torn paper & the colour scheme from #PPA303
to create a male orientated card with a sea faring theme.
I can take them with me to use as displays when I go to workshops or parties & they will be perfect to use them for Fathers Day later in the year!

OK enough talking about them :)

Here they are

'You Are My Anchor'

#KOCreations #Fromlandtosea #Guygreetings1of1and2of2 #GDP038 #PPA303 #Fathersday #Youaremyanchor

I used Night of navy as the card base and and cut one A4 sheet into 2 @ 10.5cm x 15cm. I used some scrap Night of Navy under the Sahara Sand card stock.I found some Perfectly Artistic  papers that I had left and wiped, with my dauber & Mint Macaron ink over the top... I daubed some whisper white in other places to tone down some areas. I stamped with Night of Navy onto the ink brushed & daubed DSP with the Anchor from the 'Guys Greetings' set 2 of 2. And made some panels for the inside of each card.

#KOCreations #Fromlandtosea #Guygreetings1of1and2of2 #GDP038 #PPA303 #Fathersday #Youaremyanchor
After applying some adhesive to the outside edges, I tore both of the inside edges with the Sahara Sand First & then followed with the Night of Navy trying to follow a similar tear pattern as the Sahara Sand. These panels were then added to the front using Stampin' Dimensional's.

#KOCreations #Fromlandtosea #Guygreetings1of1and2of2 #GDP038 #PPA303 #Fathersday #Youaremyanchor

I found some scrap Sahara Sand and stamped with Night of Navy the 'Ships Wheel' and the 'Lantern'  with the 'From Land To Sea' stamp set. I added these to the front of each card to make each slightly different.

#KOCreations #Fromlandtosea #Guygreetings1of1and2of2 #GDP038 #PPA303 #Fathersday #Youaremyanchor

To finish these cards I added a long thread pulled from the Burlap ribbon and wrapped and tied it to either side of the front panels.
The sentiment has been stamped in Night of Navy onto a scrap of thew DSP and held in place with dimensional's. The centre dimensional's, under the sentiment, has been doubled up to give height and the effect of movement.

I hope you enjoyed my card creations today.

Global Design Project #033 | Colour Challenge

GDP033-Color Challenge

I enjoyed last weeks GDP project so much!
I thought I would see what they were up to again this week.
&
WOW !

The Color Challenge

As you can see from  the color palette above, I was in for a great challenge. One that would again, take me waaaaay out of my comfort zone!
As I have some orders to fill that required bicycles, I tried to combine my orders with the color palette, to see if I could make it work.

This is the first card that I came up with.

'Pedal Pusher'

#Pedalpusher #KOCreations #PrettypetalsDSPS  #GDP033

#Pedalpusher #KOCreations #PrettypetalsDSPS  #GDP033
As I mentioned earlier, I was trying to combine this challenge with a current order, so the first card was complimented by 2 more to make a set of 3!

#Pedalpusher #KOCreations #PrettypetalsDSPS  #GDP033

Here is a group picture

#Pedalpusher #KOCreations #PrettypetalsDSPS  #GDP033

How I made the 'Pedal Pusher' trio:

  • Well first up I grabbed some A4 card stock in Night of Navy, Calypso Coral & Sahara Sand, then thought wow & reached for the Very Vanilla to break it up! I also at this stage remembered my order... so I grabbed the Pedal Pusher stamp set.
  • I was also trying to use up some of my DSPS and I remembered that a particular DSPS is heavily laden with Calypso Coral color and got out the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack.
  • I chose my DSPS sheets to use as backing, cut some Card stock to stamp on and played with layouts...Each card had to be slightly different but still carry a theme.
  • I punched out a couple of decorative labels and cut them in half, using then as an interest piece behind the stamped images.
  • Using some punches for the flowers, one being petite petals. I layered the flowers with the sentiment and burlap ribbon cut. You can see where I punched out a heart using the sweetheart punch. I double layered this with Sahara Sand cardstock behind the pretty petals dsps sheet.
  • I couldn't believe my luck when I found I still had some Calypso Coral dotted lace, so I quickly utilized some of this as well.
I am very happy with how this set finished & I hope you like them too.
Thanks for taking the time to have a look at my blog

Paper Pals PPA297 – A Color Challenge from Jackie Diediker

Paper Pals Challenge PPA297- A color Challenge from Jackie Diediker

Hi again, wow I didn't realize there was so many craft showcases & challenges out there!
It's really amazing!

I have found another bunch of talented people sharing gorgeous creations and challenges. This group are called Paper Pals

      Pals Paper Arts

This weeks color challenge is from  Jackie Diediker

This bunch of colors is not a grouping I would normally put together of my own accord, so this really was a challenge! On their own they are gorgeous, but I wasn't sure how I was going to really make them work together.
I thunk and thunk and then I thunk some more....
&
This is what I came up with.
I am really pleased with it too!

'Little Moments'

#Watercolorwings #Timelesstextures #KOCreations #PPA297

How I made 'Little Moments'

  • I sponged Daffodil Delight onto Whisper White cardstock  12cm x 9cm very lightly & then sponged whisper white over the top to whiten some patches. I then used a mask and sponged again with Daffodil Delight. To finish I grabbed my flourish from the Timeless Textures stamp set and stamped off then on the Daffodil Delight with Wisteria Wonder all around the edges in a random pattern.
  • The on another piece of Whisper White 16.5 cm x 11.5cm, I used the same flourish with Daffodil Delight and the same technique...stamping off onto a scrap page then onto my background in a random manner.
  • I lightly sponged a paper doily with Pool Party and cut it in half.
  • Using the large butterfly from Watercolor Wings I stamped onto whisper white with Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder.
  • I cut a piece Wisteria Wonder cardstock 12.2cm x 9.2cm and placed the layered stamping cardstock onto it.
  • Placing the cut doily onto each corner, I used the snail adhesive to hold it in place.
  • I grabbed a leftover piece of vellum and stamped the gorgeous sentiment on to it and cut to fit the top of the card front. I stuck the vellum by using the snail adhesive on the very edge.
  • I then placed the butterfly over the top and embellished it with lovely flower. I added small Rhinestone Basic Jewels randomly over the rest of the card front.
  • I finished the whole card by adding Wisteria Wonder as the card base and by carrying some of the Daffodil Delight flourish to the inside of my card.

My Sea Folly

My Sea Folly

Have you ever started creating with an idea in mind and it just wouldn't happen?!
Friday I received a demonstrator order, one that I had placed the week before.
I opened my box of goodies with such excitement and found my Circle Card thinlits die, along with my new DSP's, cardstock & my Sea themed stamps.
I was over the moon & couldn't wait to get started.

So, yesterday I went to my studio. With the intent of creating one of these 'Circle Cards'....I found an online tutorial showing how to use the die, but ....NO WAY HO-SAY!
I just couldn't think of how I wanted it to look & nothing I did was going to make it happen.
I was distracted!
My minds eye kept picturing the Sea themed stamp sets I had unpacked, and I just had to keep picking them up!
They were calling me to create with them!

SO, I DID
 &
 I created this set,
I call

 'Sea Folly'
