As you can see from the pics above I have designed my own version of the "WIPER CARD"

I really like cards that fit neatly into envelopes for postage and have that surprise element. 

This design ticks both boxes for me!

At my last Demonstrator Party earlier in Feb my Hostess earned her Ladybug stamp set. She then purchased the matching dies. One of her party attendees booked a party from that and all coming wanted ideas on how to use this gorgeous set. This is what I came up with for my next party in early March.

It's been a while since I have actually written a blog post. I decided to take a self imposed sabbatical from blogging, as I was finding it all far to time consuming and other areas of my Stampin' Up!® business were beginning to suffer.
When I realised this I decided to concentrate mainly on my home based classes and tutorials. Now I have my monthly classes running smoothly, I am finding I have a little spare time to write about what I am creating once again.

This challenge is another beautiful Spring time selection of colours!

SPRING IS HERE!
Can you tell I am excited. I have spent most of last week in my vegie patch pulling weeds from the winter grown vegies and planting seeds in the hothouse. Along with planting a few seedlings in the 1x1m above ground beds.

I grew up helping my Dad in the vegie garden and now my kids love helping me out in our very own vegie patch. When the naughty dog doesn't decide to dig a few up 😕 can you see her foot prints??? I have already have to replant my Cauliflowers 😑

Well enough of what I have been up to and onto my design for this colour challenge

I have slightly modified a Z-fold design, so that the Designer Series Paper design isn't spoiled by the Z-fold Mechanism. I used a gorgeous DSP for my background from the stunning 'Feels Like Frost' 6x6" DSp pack. This DSP is available from the Holiday Catalogue right now and can be used for so many different occasions.

 

There are so many stunning designs in this pack! I was a little disappointed that I could only choose 1 for my design.

'Mothers Day' is fast approaching so I have chosen to create a card specifically for this purpose. My Mum loves flowers of any description and is also an avid card maker too. So I know this card will be appreciated.

My second card (below) can be used for any occasion as I have left it without a sentiment. I have created this card using 3 different sets. I adore mixing and matching sets.
I have used 2 thinlit sets 'Butterfly Beauty' thinlits along with the 'Wonderful Floral' framelit dies which I mixed with the 'Dragonfly Dreams' stamp set (background)
The butterfly thinlits die has been chopped into individual butterflies, so I could place them more randomly.
I have chosen gold as my accompanying colour accent for both of my cards.

Stamping Sunday - Fave Holiday Catalogue Product and How To Step Up Your Cards

From right to left we have the the original simpler style card, with the middle card being slightly more involved and finally the 3rd card having had added slightly details, each new item that has been added brings something different to the original design.

Here I have layered the Brights Designer Series Paper with matching card stock and then topped it with whisper white stamped image topper. The stamping is straight forward with the eye being drawn to the addition of the coloured and punched Christmas globe. 

The technique for stamping the word Bright is called 'Shadow Technique' and is a wonderful affect to teach beginners along with basic layering skills. Basic 'Alcohol Colouring' techniques have been used for the Christmas globe. There are no lines to stay inside and showcases perfectly how to use the colour lifter and blending abilities of these markers.

Using all of the same items and techniques from the first card we have managed to step up this card just by adding dimension and bling. By placing the sentiment of a piece of coloured card shaped with paper snips  this has given the card extra dimension and focal interest plus adding a little bling with the addition of rhinestones helps draw the eye back to the original focal area..

To give this card the helping hand it needed to punch above it's starting weight we first changed the colour up 😊 then we have added the gorgeous matching Poppy Parade ribbon as a side trim and to finish we have added a touch more colour by extending the light string and by colouring the rhinestones with the matching Alcohol Markers again keeps the eye drawn to the original focal area.

All of these little extra add ons are subtle differences side by side. But each step appeals to different people and different levels of crafting abilities or needs.

Ink It! Stamp It! - Technique

Welcome to another Ink It Stamp It blog hop. You are currently here with me Kim Oliver- KOCreations Cards. I have a list of the other talented blog hop participants closer to the end of this post.


Today we are focusing our energies on techniques.

Techniques are what all paper crafters use to creat their gorgeous projects with.
My technique today is repeat stamping.
 Repeat stamping can be as simple as stamping an image in the same colour as your card stock to give a textured look or as complex as creating your own Designer Series Paper (DSP).

I have chosen to create my own DSP to aid my creating of a card and gift box set. I have a video further down on this post of the basic box directions from Pootles (Sam) This is where I got the directions from.

The next 3 photo's show the steps I used to create my own DSP for the milk carton lid.

The stamp set I used is called Lovely Wishes and is a two step stamp set.

The colour I used are Basic Black (retiring), Berry Burst and Garden Green

Step 1

Stamp the images in your desired pattern.
If you aren't confident doing this the Stamparatus is a wonderful tool to aid positioning of your stamps and paper.
For me I just stamped my first image one way, turned my stamp around and stamped it as close to the first image as possible then repeated.

Step 2

This step is part two of the two step stamp being put into use. 

Using Garden green I stamped the colours in the leaves.

I deliberately made sure that the colour could be seen by stamping twice, once int he image and again periodically outside the image.

Step 3

For the last and final step (which is stall part 2 of the two step stamp set) I added the Berry Burst colour to the flower heads.
