Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Alison Solven

I am hopping today with the Crazy Crafters Team and our special guest Alison Solven

We will all be using Alison as our inspiration today.
While perusing through Alison's wide range of works I noticed so many gorgeous floral cards. You can visit her blog HERE to check out some of her lovely designs.

I adore flowers of all types, so that is what I was inspired by.

For my project today I used a bundle called Floral Frames.

I wanted to create a Shabby style of card that has a clean feel with a bit of white space.

The background was created by distressing a piece of the Tropical Escape DSP and gluing straight onto the Whisper White card base.

Focal Area

• I stamped the coloured framed image onto Shimmery White in Sahara Sand. 

• I then coloured it with Inks and an Aqua Painter. 

• Old Olive
• Garden Green 
• Petal Pink 
• Merry Merlot 
• Mossy Meadow 

•  I defined the larger of the leaves using a Stampin' Write marker in old Olive.

• I Fussy Cut the frame and layered it using dimensionals onto 3 Die cut Floral Frames. 

• The 3 frames were die cut from Old Olive and Thick Whisper White card stock. 

• I cut the centres out using the layering circles framelits. 

• I added a length of Copper trim that has been cut open and spread out flat behind my layered frames to add a little texture.

Items Used

• Oh So Eclectic stamp set plus the Eclectic Layers thinlits
• Petal Palette stamp set (sentiment)
• Hardwood background stamp
• Thick Whisper White, Basic Gray, Pool Party and A4 Vellum card stock
• Pool Party, Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Stazon Black Ink Pad
• Metallic Enamel Shapes (retiring)
• Whisper White 1/8 Sheer Ribbon
• Tailored Tag Punch
• Big Shot

Basic Instructions

• Place a piece of A4 thick Basic Gray into the Stampin' Trimmer portrait orientation, Score at 10.5cm cm (4 1/8") . Turn to landscape orientation and cut at 14.9 cm (5 13/16") Fold on score line and burnish. This will give you 2 card bases with a top fold for portrait orientation. 
• Cut 1 piece of  the Pool Party cardstock at 14.9 cm (5 13/16") x 8.5cm (3 3/8) for card front layer
• Cut 1 piece of Thick Whisper White at 14.9cm (5 13/16") x 8.0cm (3 1/8")  for card front.
• Using second largest (normal) circle from Layering Circle Framelits create a mask using printer paper. Place over card front, so circle is central but slightly high of centre.
• Ink Hardwood Background image with Basic Gray and stamp over circle mask.
• Lift stamp and mask. Colour circular hardwood image quickly, using Pool Party ink pad and a very wet Aqua Painter.
• Put aside to dry.
• Stamp the flower in Stazon, colour using Aqua Painter and Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral. Die cut with matching die.
• Die cut leaves in Vellum and Basic Gray, cut in half and place behind flower.
• Punch three tags, one in Vellum, one Basic Gray and the other in Pool Party. 
• Using the heart shape embossing die from Eclectic Layers, emboss the vellum layer. Layer tags as pictured with Pool Party at the bottom.
• The Hardwood Circle should be dry by now, Stamp sentiment (from Petal Palette stamp set) in Stazon.
• Glue card front layer to Pool Party Layer. Glue this into position to card base.
• Using the Diamond shapes in the Eclectic Layers thinlits set cut a Pool Party Diamond. Layer and place where desired.
• Add embellishments and tie ribbon around the stem of the leaves.

I simply adore the NEW Springtime Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP). The touch of gold on this paper really adds a richness to your projects.

I paired the gorgeous DSP with the new Blossoming Basket bundle.

This bundle comprises of a stamp set and a Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF)

I have used both for my card.

I coloured the basket of flowers using the Stampin' Blends which are also available in the Occasions catalogue on pages 30 and 31. Once coloured I fussy cut the image before mounting it over the embossed whisper white card stock.

I finished my card by adding some twine and mini sequins trim in black and a FREE item called Shimmer Ribbon in Basic Grey.

I have added a splatter style background and used the Petal Palette bundle to create layers to the focal area.

I have added a heart accent from the Hearts and Stars elements pack that has been embossed in silver.

International Highlights - Blossoming Basket Bundle

For my card I used an antiquing effect with the new  Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for a stunning background.
Adding the white space with the same texture as the background behind the floral basket image helps seperate the layers and give each a  distinct energy, yet they still flow together seamlessy.

Antiqued Gold Embossing 

• To create this effect emboss the card stock then dust with embossing bu   ddy pillow. 
• Lightly wipe versamark inkpad over embossed area, spronkle with gold embossing powder, heat. 
• Wipe the area again with memento ink and gently rub in with a tissue, reheat to seal.

I also used the Basket Weave TIEF for the focal circle behind the basket of flowers.

My card base is Thick Whisper White with a layer of  embossed Sahara Sand. Behind the whisper white embossed circle is a scalloped gold foil circle. I stamped my flower basket in memento ink,

I then coloured the basket using my Stamin' Blends  and finally I fussy cut it.

Gosh I do love those Stampin' Blends, they are just so easy to use and give such vibrant colours. The colour lifter is so useful too! I used it for removing mistakes plus adding extra highlights on the flowers and the basket too!

To carry the colour through to the inside I just added a layer of Sahara Sand under a layer of whisper white and glued both to the inside to my card base.

To finish my card I added linen thread plus 6 pearl basic jewels. They just add a little delicateness that was needed to finish.

For my card I used a Basic Black card base with an embossed layer of Thick Whisper White. 

I cut my circle from the embossed layer before I embossed. It is important to do it before you emboss with the folder, otherwise you will lose the gorgeous texture you have just created.

The embossed layer has added depth by adding dimensionals underneath to lift it up and away from the Basket image.

The black framing the circle has been cut using the largest layering circle and then using my paper snips, I cut around the outside edge of the negative following the mark left by the die.

I stamped the basket onto a scrap piece of whisper white and then coloured it using the Stampin' Blends that are available now in the Occasions catalogue on pages 30 and 31.

The Stampin' Blends colours that I used are as follows:

• Old Olive Light and Dark combo (144597)
• Pink Pirouette Light and Dark combo (144604)
• Crumb Cake Light and Dark combo (144601
• Cherry Cobbler Light (144576)
• Calypso Coral Light (144042)
• Daffodil Delight Light (144586)
• Bermuda Bay Light (144580)
• Ivory (144606)
• Colour Lifter 144608)

Once finished I stamped the butterflies and repeated the process of colouring and fussy cutting. I also added clear Wink of Stella to the butterflies, just to make them shimmer and shine in the light.
The pretty little butterflies are held in place with glue dots.

I finished my card by grouping some pretty rhinestones down the left side of the card, this helped bring some balance and symmetry back.
