Stamping Sunday Blog Hop (Every Second Sunday) Darling Label Punch Box

Welcome back to the Stamping Sunday DT blog hop (every second Sunday).
We are focusing our design skills today on the Darling Label Punch Box.

I have to admit I did struggle with this gorgeous boxed set at first.
I got it out and left it sitting on my desk for over a week! I just had to think about how I could use this in a way that was useful and striking. I thought about inlays, repeat backgrounds, colours, and then it struck me. What about a male orientated design!
I always get asked why I don't do more male themed designs, and to be honest it is only because I give cards to the men in my life one third the amount of times that I do my female family and friends.

So that is where I started.

Here is my project.

 I decided on a gift set of cards that can be given to the man in your life. Now he will always be prepared for those times in his life when an important date may have slipped his mind 😉

For this gift set I used the Best Route DSP that is currently available from the annual catalogue. I paired it with the Grapefruit Grove ribbon and Night of Navy card stock (card bases). I stamped all the sentiments in the Night Of Navy ink that comes in the boxed set.

To keep these little cards together I decorated a Pizza Box using the same DSP and ribbon and popped them all inside with some Very Vanilla note card sized envelopes..

When I had finished I was once again kind of at a loss.
Then I got my delivery of Pre-Order items from the new Holiday Catalogue (one of the perks of being a demo) and in it was the STUNNING embossing folder that I just fell in love with called the 'Tin Tile Dynamic Impressions Embossing Folder' (147906).

As soon as I lifted it out of the packing box I knew I just had to pair it with the Darling Label Punch Box.

I also embossed a scrap piece of Silver Foil and grunged it up using Black Stazon ink.
The sentiment has been heat embossed in white on Melon Mambo. Melon Mambo card stock has also been used for the card base.

Here are the basic instructions.

Items required.

• Darling Label Punch Box
• Tin Tile Dynamic TIEF
• 1 x A4 card stock (your choice of colour) cut in half length ways and scored and folded in half. This gives you your card base @ 14.9cm x 10.5cm. Keep the other side for the underlay and sentiment piece.
• 1 x A4 Thick Whisper White card stock. 1 piece cut at 9.5cm x 14cm (inside layer), 2 x 14.5ccm x 10.2cm (card front layer and embossed card front) 
• White Embossing Powder, Embossing Buddy and Heat Tool
• Scrap piece of Silver Foil card stock.
• Black Metallic Thread.
• Copper trim.
• Metallic Brads
• Glue Dots and Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

How to.

• Emboss the Thick White card stock after spritzing lightly with water. 
• Then ink up a sponge brayer using Melon Mambo and roll on a light covering. 
• Repeat that step with the black memento ink. I think it still needs some more grunge, don't you?
• So wipe the versamark ink pad across the surface, very lightly (hit and miss) and sprinkle Silver Embossing powder over the top. 
• Tap of the excess and heat. 
• Glue it to a layer of Melon Mambo card stock and punch out the shapes using the label punch. 
• Place the pieces onto a layer of Thick Whisper white and glue into position 
• Measure and cut the edges to fit your card layer 
• Add three different sized brads to the circles on the card front.
• Glue the whole thing to the Melon Mambo card base
• Emboss the scrap piece of Silver Foil.
• Grunge it up with Stazon black ink.
• Add some Metallic Brads to the ends of the embossed foil.
• Dust a piece of Melon Mambo card stock with the Embossing Buddy then Stamp the sentiment in versamark, sprinkle with embossing powder, tap of excess and heat till glossy.
• Punch the sentiment out using the Label Punch.
• Add a small length of Copper trim to the bottom of the grunged and embossed Silver Foil piece.
• Add the Metallic Thread under the sentiment and adhere to the silver foil elements.

OK I will tell you. I have added the Jute twine to the large buttons plus some small pieces from some Foil Snowflakes.
The card directly below has linen thread behind the sentiment itself.

I used only one sheet of from the DSP for all 4 cards ... Just because I ran out of time to use any more sheets! 

I do plan on making a few more cards with some more of the gorgeous manly papers that are part of the set. When things quiet back down again, after Christmas. lol

I love the simplicity of this card and the button accents are the perfect accompaniment to the card.

The reverse side of the stripes is the cute bows, but I was a little worried that they were a little busy, so I added squares behind the focal plus the button accent too.

Here I used the striped side once again but kept a more CAS look to accompany the sentiment.

Stampin Dreams Blog Hop - CASEing the Catty

Today I am taking part in the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.

This is the card from the catalogue which I have chosen to CASE and can be found on pg 176

It uses the fabulous Embossing Paste and  the Pattern Party Decorative Masks along with the Feather Together stamp set.

Basics of the card.

The card base is Thick whisper white and the layer is Elegant Eggplant.
The embossing paste has been coloured with Elegant Eggplant and Dapper Denim. 
The feathers were stamped using differing layers and stamping off before stamping onto the card stock in Elegant Eggplant.  
I overlaid the focal with Vellum just to soften the impact of the purple colour and make the sentiment stand out.
I also heat embossed the paste in silver to add sparkle and movement in direct light.

The Dapper Denim twine was added along with the metallic sequins just to add some textural elements and interest points.
The inside was created using the Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White in layers. T
o carry the theme through to the inside I stamped a single feather inside, using the same technique as the front.

I have chosen to showcase the Colourful Seasons Bundle along with the new Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. 

My card could be used for either gender and almost any occassion. It's a great #Loveitchopit design too.

All elements for this card has been created using the Wood Textures paper stack. 

 Even the die cut chair is from the paper stack, it's the peeling paint wood grain paper.

The sentiment has been heat embossed using white Stampin' Emboss Powder

 For my projects today I went with a more masculine feel...I was actually planning to enter them into the International Blog Highlights but that theme is "Get Well Soon"

Card 1

Both of these cards was created using items from the Urban Underground Suite.  

You may see slight differences with each card as I alternated the colours for the tag and banner for each card + I used different threads behind the sentiments.  The one above has Very Vanilla bakers twine while the one below has Black Metallic thread. 

Just for another little change I used differing embellishments for each focal area too.

My card base for both cards is Basic Black. The front layers being the Very Vanilla circles DSP . 

The card directly above has the addition of silver foil as an extra layer which has then been adhered to the base using dimensionals  

For the focal area I used the Tags and Labels Framelits die and layered my ephemera over the top.

Sending Smiles Across the Miles - #CTC011

I have a surprise for you !

I have stamped the hot air ballon images in Peekaboo peach , water melon wonder and Mint Macaron, the die cut them. I have mounted them onto a  the Night of Navy clouds DSP from 'Carried Away' which was cut using the largest oval Stitched Shape Framelit die. Another must have item ...They really help to give some embellishments or card toppers that finished look!

*These framelits are going to be taken of the available list soon due to their popularity, as stock has run out. You can see that I have made the inside of this card a pop up style...Not as hard as it looks...I will post a video showing how easy this is ASAP...Hopefully in a week or so!

Which brings me to another set in the new catalogue! BALLOON POP UP THINLIT DIES!!!!!

the large balloon die is quite intricate...for this particular image I cut two of the images. There are also slices of the balloon shape in the dies that you can cut DSP to fill the areas with as you can see the different papers on the balloon pictured. After I have glued to slices of colour in place I laid a piece of Black Bakers Twine up the centre of the balloon and then glued the twin image in place to hold it.

You can see that my balloon hangs out a little, this just means that it needs a larger envelope :) lol

I like how it hangs out, it gives the recipient another reason to open their card!

And now for the second card

I decided for this card to make the weather just a little chilly looking, it also matches the Smokey Slate colour that the hundreds of balloons are flying over :) I used the largest circle from the Layering Circle framelits for this card.

For the inside I have just stamped the balloons onto clean white paper using a cut out die shape as a mask, so I could make them all look like they were flying over, around and above each other.
