Welcome once again to my blog!
I was invited by a friend to go away for a weekend for a scrapcamp...I was intrigued so decided I would pack a few supplies and go see what it was all about...
SCRAPBOOKING hmmmm
Now I used to scrap book MANY many years ago and that lead to my love of paper crafting and card making.
But to actually make a page and a layout from scratch was something I hadn't done for 16 YEARS!!!
Could I do it !?!
I was given the address and a basic list of what I needed to take for food and sleeping etc..It took an hour and a half to drive to the middle of no where at the base of a mountain. The South Mt Cameron Field study Centre to be exact.
I admit I was nervous and really worried that I would look silly in front of all the other ladies who were far more proficient in the art of scrapbooking than I.
But after the drive, a cuppa, introducing ourselves to each other and then unpacking we all just grabbed a table and got to creating.
The page below was entered into Kylie Bertucci's weekly highlights. I would love it if you could stop by to place a vote Click HERE to VOTE
I will share with you some of my pages that were completed over the weekend.

For this Layout I used the Falling in Love DSP and matching Card stock. The flowers were made using the Succulent Framelits die set. The Lace doilies are also from the same suite as the DSP. I cut them in half and placed around my framed photographs, I also punched the butterfly toppers from a doily for added interest points. I used sequins from the Cupcakes and Carousels embellishment kit to the centre of the flowers. I added a metallic enamel shape in gold to the back of my butterflies. The sentiment was created by cutting two sets of words from the Hello You thinlits set and layering them to form a shadow effect.
I covered each Sahara Sand flower in Clear Wink of Stella for an extra bit of bling. The bricks have been embossed in whisper white embossing powder and was from the Ghoulish Grunge stamp set.
My sweet little girl was only 5 moths old in these photographs and was just learning to sit up on her own. She is now 6 years old and is now learning to rider horses!
She is still very much a girly girl and loves flowers and dresses.

For this next layout I used the Fruit Stand DSP as it matched the yellow of the frame and the colours in my photograph perfectly. The little tag on the left was created using the tags and labels Framelits. I punched the butterfly using the Bitty Butterfly punch from the peach centres.

My little man was only just 2 and a half in this photo and loved being outside...he still enjoys the outdoors and is now 8.

For this layout I used the Urban Undergound DSP ... It is fast becoming a favourite set and am looking forward to creating more with it...The pictures are again of my little man Billy and is aged 3...he received the loader for Christmas that year (2011)

My little boy loved playing with his machines in his gravel/sand pit and I might add he still does even at age 8. I actually remember sneaking outside and snapping a couple of photos before he spotted me and posed lol.

This last one is also of my children and a good friend. This was the first layout made at Scrapcamp upon arriving. The photos were taken at a local Lavender Farm at the tail end of the harvesting season last month.
I created the flowers using the Succulent Framelits dies and added a rhinestone to the centre of each one. The ribbon is real red and has been ruched by pulling a centre thread then adhering in place under each photo.
I apologise for the quality of this photo ... the sun disappeared just as I took it and hasn't returned again!
I hoped you enjoyed these projects. I know I had a ball creating them, it has re-awakened the desire to create more layouts of my children at different stages of their lives. I have taken so many photo's of them doing what they love, why not create with them !!
Thanks so much for stopping by :)
I have listed most items I used to create these layout for your convenience below. Just click on any item you require to purchase that item from my store.

Beautiful pages! Just love each one and love that you shared how you put them all together. Really pretty! Hugs ~ Judy
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy :D You have made my morning x
DeleteThese are awesome pages! Love your details in creating and also in sharing a little about your loved ones. I hope you left that 'nasty voice' that suggested you wouldn't be able to 'measure up' at the bottom of the mountain!! That's where it belongs...cause you did a fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much Rae, I really did enjoy creating these. I think I always have had that little doubter in my head, but it's something most of us learn to deal with and overcome eventually.
DeleteWow - they're gorgeous! Just like little windows into great memories.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stephanie, I enjoy taking photo's of my family among other things lol :) But I have certainly missed creating something even more beautiful with them like this. I will be doing more of this for sure. So happy you like them x
DeleteGorgeous Layouts Kim. I hope you felt better when you got home. We did have a great time "on the mountain" !!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Helen :) Yes I feel loads better than thanks...took nearly a week to recover though! I am looking forward to the next one up the mountain and seeing everyone again :)

ReplyDeleteHi Satomi :) Thank you for your lovely comments. You are more than welcome to CASE these layouts! I share them for the love of what I do and having you CASE them just means I have done a good job of sharing the craft that I love. It would be an honour :)
