Ink It! Stamp It! blog hop - 2017 - 2018 Annual Catalogue

No automatic alt text available.

Welcome to our Ink it! Stamp it! Blog Hop. This month we will be sharing projects inspired by our favourites from the Annual Catalogue.
I would love to know what your favourite item from the new catalogue is.
You are here with me Kim Oliver -Australia. I have a list of the other particpating Design Team members closer to the end of this post to help guide you through the hop..

My project today was inspired by page 163 of the annual catalogue. It is fast becoming a favourite for me. Although it was hard to pick just one..So I didn't lol
I would love to know what your favourite item is from the new catalogue!?!.

Floral Statements

I simply adore this set

The reason I think I like this set so much is it's got so much versatility. You don't have to just stamp it and add a ribbon. Although this is so very effective, as the catalogue shows.

I also used the 'Lovely Words' thinlits set from page 157 of the annual catalogue. I love that thinlits set so much! You can do almost anything with it! Cards, Memory Making, Gift Tags you name it!

Here is my project

Hello Friend

#KOCreationscards #Floralstatements #Lovelywordsthinlits #Cardmaking #Stampinup #Hellofriend #Inspiredbynature #inkitstampit

I have used a version of the spotlight technique for my card.

I made this card for two reasons.
  1. Was for this Design Team Ink It! Stamp It! Blog Hop. I thought it was very appropriate as LOADS of ink has been used here lol
  2. Was for a sample card for my teams benefit.
Each fornight I set them a challenge and this weeks challenge was a sketch. Depending on the amount of entries each fornight I choose 5 I think are awesome and then I create a poll and let them decide who the winner is. The winner of that challenge gets to choose the next challenge theme plus I send them a sample pack of current DSP 😊

But enough about my team hahaha

I am sure you would like to know more about how I made my card.

A quick run down on how I created this card.

For this card my card base is thick Whisper White layered with Basic Black.
I stamped my image onto a piece of thick Whisper White then water coloured using Tempting Turquoise for the flowers and Lemon Lime Twist for the leaves.
The colouring was done in 3 stages, first I applied a layer to the shadows and then washed a small amoint of colour over the top.
I then waited for it to dry and re-applied the colour in the same manner as the first layer.
When the second layer was dry I used my Stampin' Write markers to add more depth to the shadow area and highlighted the lighter areas using the White craft refill. I placed a small drip of white onto a clear block and then picked it up and applied using a damp aqua painter.
*When trying this technique I find it handy to have a tissue on hand to help keep the aqua painter damp but not wet!
When all of the colouring were dry, I used two layering circle framelits. The smallest I cut from the stamped image. The largest I cut form the basic black layer. I glued the together.
You can see the word 'FRIEND' has been placed over the top. For this I used the 'Lovely Words' thinlits set and cut 'Friends' from it's original oval shape.
I cut the 'FRIEND' word 3 times in Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise and Silver. I glued these all together slightly off setting them so as to see a slight egde of each colour. I cut 3 small banners from matching pieces from the friends word left overs and popped that under the layered circle.
Using a black pen I drew a rough rectangle around the word 'HELLO' and then added little corner accents.
Using the foam adhesive strips, I placed the circle back in position over the word 'HELLO'.

I added 6 small rhinestones to finish.

Here is a list of all of the other Design Team members . Just click the name after mine to be take to another fabulous project.

Climbing Orchid & Orchid Builder bundle - #GDP092

Welcome back to my blog 😊

I have had rather a busy week so far!
I am currently in the middle of creating 60 wedding invites for a friends wedding. I have been doing a bit every day this week.
I have all the printing done plus all the backings trimmed.
I have just finished trimming, scoring and burnishing 60 pocket style cards for the invites to go in. Now I have to trim all the printed pieces to fit. Cut, score and burnish the actual pockets and then put them all together ...  with the ribbon and bling accents. I plabn on sharing the steps I used for the invites, so stay tuned for that!

I took a break from doing all of that today and created a card for myself 😎
I knew I hadn't entered GDP's challenge this week so I thought I would give that a go.

The challenge for Global Design Project this week is CASEing the designer Steffi Helmschrott

For my CASE I chose to keep the jar and flowers theme.

Here is my card

 Thinking Of You

#KOCreationscards #Climbingorchid #Orchidbuilder #Inspiredbynature #Stampinup #Cardmaking #Rubberstamping

I went with my favourite colour scheme of Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist with just a touch of black to make it POP.
I used the thinlits that match this stamp set to give the flowers a 3 dimensional appearance. I added an orchid that had fallen off a stem at the top. I covered the flowers with clear wink of stella mixed with a touch of the Berry Burst ink to fill the flowers colour out just a touch more.
I added white perfect accents as water droplets. I achieved this by removing the backing and gluing into place. I even cut an accent in half and added it as a droplet on the side of the glass jar, can you see it!?!

The sentiment is also from the Climbing Orchid stamp set. I adore that font, reminds me of my hand writing when I was about 20 lol

Angled and Open View

#KOCreationscards #Climbingorchid #Orchidbuilder #Inspiredbynature #Stampinup #Cardmaking #Rubberstamping
To finish the top of the jar off I added black bakers twine. I put a tiny slit near the edge of the glass ar and poked the 3 strands of twine through to the back. I held it in place with tear and tape. I tied a bow onto the twine then I held the bow in position with a glue dot.

For the inside I stamped the main orchid and then the stems. I then added the little buds to finish off.
Neat huh!

This gorgeous set is available as a bundle. You save %10 percent when purchaseing available bundle sets, so this is a perfect opporunity to save money!

Color Theory - Bring On the Snow

 Welcome back everyone 😊
O do apologise for the delay in bringing you this post, but unfortunatley I have ahd a few ill peeps. We have one after the the all come down with a nasty head cold 😷
Me, of course while being healthy looking after everyone else, have finally caught it.
But no good complaining, in a couple of days I will be right as rain 😉

So you might remember around a week ago I shared some projects using the Color Theory Suite duirng a Stampin Sunday Blog Hop. If you don't, no worries,  you can find that post HERE.

I promised to share another card from this set pictured below.
Can you see the little desk calander with this set. It has interchangable pictures to sit each season! I used teh Color Theory Memories and More pack to create this with.

#KOCreationscards #colortheory #colorfulseasons #stampinup #Memoriesandmore #Fourseasons  #Winter  #Seasonallayers

Well I chose to share with you the WINTER themed card.
As it is winter here where I live (Tasmania) and at the moment bitterly cold too.
We do occasionally get a few flurries of snow here where we live, but mostly it stays up in the surrounding mountains.

Bring On The Snow with Desk Calender

#KOCreationscards #colortheory #colorfulseasons #stampinup #Memoriesandmore #Fourseasons  #Winter  #Seasonallayers

Method.

  1. Fold a whisper white A4 sheet in half and cut at 10.5 cm. Trim a 1/4 A4 black card stock down so that there is a 4mm edge showing. Then trim a piece of Color theory DSP (I used 'Dapper Denim') ombre sheet down, so that there is only a 1 mm edge all around.
  2. Using the woodlands embossing folder run through with the Denim ombre coloured DSP.
  3. Dust the whole front with embossing buddy, be generous, don't skimp!
  4. Grab the versamark and gently without pressing rub over the front of the embossed paper.
  5. Using a spoon sprinkle some silver embosssing powder over the tree trunks
  6. Tap off excess and rfemove any in areas you don't require it.
  7. Heat with your heat until puffed and shiny.
  8. Adhere to the Basic Black layer using Multipurpose Glue.
  9. Using the layering ovals (the largest scalloped and the second largest plain oval) Cut  a piece of Dapper Denim using the scalloped oval. With the plain oval grav a snow themed sheet fromt he Memories and More pack and run this through the big shot also.
  10. Glue together.
  11. You will find in the Color Theory DSP some crackled design sheets. Grab one sheet and the snow flakes thinlits from the Season Layers thinlits. Create 3.
  12. Arrange as desired around the focal oval area. Place a co-ordinating glitter enamel dot in the centre. Mount them with glue dots.
  13. Arrange a few more glitter dots where desired and mount the whole thing onto the whisper white card base.

I hope you liked this project today

I have been wanting to use this gorgeous stamp set since I saw it in the new catalogue! It truly does make card making super easy.
If you wanted you could leave it black and white and layer it on cardstock and voila you have a beautiful statement card.!
I adore how the roses and leaves are among the letters. Don't you?!?

Close up and Angeled View

#KOCreationscards #Floralstatements #Thankyoucards #Cardmaking #Stampinup #Watercolour #Colourinkspiration

A quick run down on how I created this card.

For this card my card base is Early Espresso layered with thick Whisper White.
I stamped my image onto a piece of thick Whisper White then water coloured using Marina Mist for the flowers and Soft Suede for the leaves.
When all of my colours were dry, I trimmed the edges so that small parts of the image would hang over the edge. I fussy cut around these overhanging edges.
I backed this with a piece of Early Espresso and then layered that onto thick Whisper White.
I added 3 of the small blue glitter enamel dots to finish.

I was thrilled with how it finished.
I do hope you like it too

Crazy Crafters blog hop with Jeanette Egemann - Oh So Eclectic Bundle

Welcome back everyone 😊 I am so happy you could join me again.

Today we the Crazy Crafters Team are hopping with special guest Jeanette Egemann

Image may contain: text

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, closeup

When we hop with a special guest we all honour our guest by combing through their blog posts and choosing something we love of theirs and CASE it.
CASEing is where we Copy And Selective Edit. You can Copy it exactly or just edit by taking certain elements from a card design and making it your own.

Man that was hard this week, EVERYTHING on Jeanettes blog is just gorgeous!

But I did find something that really grabbed my attention.

Look at this card of Jeanettes! It is just STUNNING in it's simplicity. Jeanette has used my two current fave colours 'Lemon Lime Twist' - LLT and 'Berry Burst'- BB for her card plus it's a CAS design.
CAS is something I admire and always find hard to do.

I just had to CASE this card!

You are currently here with me Kim Oliver. This is a nlog hop, so I have listed all other participants towards the end of this post.
Here is my card.
Can you pick the elements I kept from Jeanettes original card?

You're Eclectically Lovely

#KOCreationscards #Ohsoecclectic #Ecclecticlayers #Yourejustlovely #Floralcard #Cardmaking #Stampinup #Spring #Happy
Clean cards are Sooooo hard for me lol. But in saying that I think my card still has a CAS feel with it. What do you think?

The elements I have kept from Jeanettes card are
  1. The Focal Panel.
  2. The Colour Scheme.
  3. Die cuts.
I used the 'Oh So Eclectic' bundle for my card and I was just over the moon with how it finished. When I saw this suite in the catalog I just fell in loved with it and the DSP too.
I saved %10 percent by buying this set as a bundle!!! WOW thats an awesome saving, don't you agree!.
You too can also get this AMAZING saving just by purchasing this set as a bundle  (145346)
You can get even more savings just by joining and becoming a demonstrator!
I would love to have you on my team 💖

I made another card using these colours and the same bundle.
Pic below.

Twosome

#KOCreationscards #Ohsoeclectic #Eclecticlayers #Yourejustlovely #Floralcard #Cardmaking #Stampinup #Spring #Happy
These two look so good together!
But we will chat more about the second card another day 😊
I just love how striking the two colours combined with black and white look!
Don't you agree?
They automatically make me smile and feel happy no matter what the day has bought my way.

Stampin Dreams Blog Hop - Carry Over Products

"Welcome to the Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop, running monthly. You are currently visiting with me Kim Oliver from Australia. I hope you enjoy my project/cards showcasing some of my favourite Carry Over Products from the old catalogue to the awesome new 2017-2018 catalogue.

#KOCreationscards #Countrylivin #Sunshinesayings #Watercolouring #Imarty #Stampinup #Rubberstamping #Guitars #Cowboys

I have chosen the 'Country Livin''and 'Sunshine Sayings' stamp sets as my Carry Over products along with the fabulous aqua painters and Stampin' Write Markers.

Here is my card

A Life Time Of Love

#KOCreationscards #Countrylivin #Sunshinesayings #Watercolouring #Imarty #Stampinup #Rubberstamping #Guitars #Cowboys

My card stock is thick Whisper White with a layer of Dapper Denim for contrast.
I stamped my images using the memento black ink and let dry before water colouring with the Aqua painters.
I was after a real water colour feel with my images so I was really rough and super quick when painting. Skipping between the sections so the colours do not bleed into each other. Let dry a little before adding in the darker areas for a truer water colour effect.
Using the large stitched shapes ovel I die cut the coloured pickup. Layering this with dapper denim card stock really gave it a lift.
I then fussy cut the boots and the guitar. I am a little bit of a operfectionist and beacuse these items weren't in perspective, I tried to give a little perspective to them by layering.
I glued the guitar directly on to the pick up image and behind the boots.
The boots have been raised using dimenionals, to bring them forward a little more.

*TIPS:

  1. To colour using markers just scribble the colour onto a clear block then pick up colour as needed with the aqua painters.
  2. When water colouring on thick whisper white you have to use a wet brush (but not dripping) and be as quick as possible. Do not rub back and forth but keep your brush moving in one direction.

It is a shaker card 😊

Hello Baby

#Moonbaby #KOCreationscards #Shakercard #Hellobaby #Stampinup #Rubberstamping

For my card I used the 'Moon Baby' stamp set  and a sheet of DSP from the 'Whole Lot of Lovely' set.
Stamp images in Memento black ink. Then water colour them using aqua painters. Once all coloured and dry, fussy cut out images.

The colours used with the aqua painters were
  • Powder Pink
  • Daffodil Delight
  • Peekaboo Peech
  • Melon Mambo
  • Soft Suede
Using the Layering Circles framelits cut out a hole slightly larger than the inside of the moon arc from the sheet of DSP.
Trim the DSP so that there is a 4mm edge. Position the trimmed DSP sheet over the top of the Whisper White card base and mark the centre of the circle. Turn over the inside circle piece from the DSP, so that the Pool Party flowers are showing and then glue to card base.. Adhere the little fluffy toys and stars in place.
Using Powder Pink  trim a piece so that 2mm shows around the edge of the DSP piece. Lay the DSP over the top and mark the centre of the circle. Then nest 2 circles dies, the first one used and the next size up, making sure to position correctly over the centre mark,  run it throught he big shot. This gives a small frame to go around the front of the DSP circle. Glue circle frame in place.
Cut a circle from Acetate window sheet using the second circle die, this gives room for glueing. Glue in place on the underside of the DSP.
Using the Foam Adhesive strips adhere the Powder Pink cards stock to the DSP front.
Place desired filling for shaker over the top of the circle on the card base, where fluffy toys have been adhered.
Using multi purpose glue (tombow) adhere the DSP and powder pink to the Whisper White card base. Making sure that the sprinkles used stay on the circle.
You will have a powder pink circle left. Use this and a scrap piece of Whisper white to create your sentiment with by die cutting the two smallest circles and then layer. I added a small poece of Peekaboo Peach 'Seam Binding' ribbon to finish the sentiment and tie the peekaboo colour in from the fluffy toys and stars
Finish of with some Rhinestone basic Jewels
