Colour INKspiration Crew CI36 ~ Healing Hugs

Hello and welcome to this fortnights Colour INKspiration challenge #CI36  😊

You are with Kim Oliver - KOCreations Cards.

Our guest designer this quarter is Anne Matasci of The Maui Stamper, Congrats Anne on winning #CI34 love your designs.
There is a NEXT button a little further down to take you to Annes blog and keep you moving through this wonderful and inspiring hop.

Here is this quarters Challenge Palette.

These are just gorgeous wintery colours, aren't they? It's Winter here where I live (Tasmania) and is very cold atm. Still, it hasn't snowed here yet...I am still waiting for that this year lol

Being that Winter is the time for colds and flues I decided on a 'Get Well Soon' style card.

Healing Hugs

I mixed the 'Healing Hugs' stamp set with the stunning 'Botanical Tags Thinlits Dies' and the 'Stitched Labels Framelits Dies'.
Mixing sets is something I enjoy doing quite alot and Stampin' Up!® products are perfect for that as they all blend together seamlessly

I struggled a bit with my card for this quarter as I wasn't overly happy with how it was looking. I had to walk away and take a break from it then have another look at it the next day.
I really fell in love with it then, the little garden arch behind the rose made me think of a chilly winters day, sitting near a window all rugged up with a fire crackling and a steaming cup of cocoa

The rose has been stamped in 'Crushed Curry' and the leaves in 'Soft Suede'. The background DSP is a piece from 'Nature's Poem'  (Nature's Poem Suite) and is also 'Soft Suede'. The cross stitching behind the rose is from the 'Healing Hugs' stamp set has been heat embossed in silver. I carried the stitching through with a little faux straight stitching from the 'Stitched Labels Framelit Dies'. The sentiment has also been heat embossed but in white on 'Basic Gray' card stock. The 'Basic Gray' garden arch behind the rose is carried through with a layer behind the card front and a strip between the DSP and 'Very Vanilla' layers. I have added 'Silver Metallic Thread' under the rose along with 'Rhinestones' to add a touch of bling.

Up next we have Anne Matasci sharing her beautiful inspiration for this fabulous colour scheme.

  1. Kim!!! So beautiful! Healing Hugs is on my next order! But it's the birdies that caught my attention - the use of the Botanical Tags is inspired! Kelly x

  2. This card is gorgeous, but I especially love the angle you've used for the layers. Sometimes I get so stuck on right angles and this really works!
