Stamping Sunday - Fave Holiday Catalogue Product and How To Step Up Your Cards

From right to left we have the the original simpler style card, with the middle card being slightly more involved and finally the 3rd card having had added slightly details, each new item that has been added brings something different to the original design.

Here I have layered the Brights Designer Series Paper with matching card stock and then topped it with whisper white stamped image topper. The stamping is straight forward with the eye being drawn to the addition of the coloured and punched Christmas globe. 

The technique for stamping the word Bright is called 'Shadow Technique' and is a wonderful affect to teach beginners along with basic layering skills. Basic 'Alcohol Colouring' techniques have been used for the Christmas globe. There are no lines to stay inside and showcases perfectly how to use the colour lifter and blending abilities of these markers.

Using all of the same items and techniques from the first card we have managed to step up this card just by adding dimension and bling. By placing the sentiment of a piece of coloured card shaped with paper snips  this has given the card extra dimension and focal interest plus adding a little bling with the addition of rhinestones helps draw the eye back to the original focal area..

To give this card the helping hand it needed to punch above it's starting weight we first changed the colour up 😊 then we have added the gorgeous matching Poppy Parade ribbon as a side trim and to finish we have added a touch more colour by extending the light string and by colouring the rhinestones with the matching Alcohol Markers again keeps the eye drawn to the original focal area.

All of these little extra add ons are subtle differences side by side. But each step appeals to different people and different levels of crafting abilities or needs.

For this card I have heat embossed the word BRIGHT onto a die cut circle of Window Sheet. Beneath that I have stamped the small lights image, water coloured and then topped with some fussy cut bulbs that have been stamped, coloured and fussy cut then glued into position.

For my second card I wanted to use the Light builder punch that is available as part of the bundle and create a glowing light with the cap. But, when I went to use it I realised that I had lost the cap part of the stamp 😭

I must of misplaced it when I was creating for the Tutorial Bundle (found at the end of this post)

I was just extremely lucky that I had an embossed Bulb and Cap left over from my creative play and was able to use that for this project. It changed what I was planning but I still really like what I came up with.

Now to find that itty bitty stamp 😳 I know it's going to be a problem.

I stamped the small lights in Versamark over the top of the heat embossed word BRIGHT. I then used my Water Colour pencils and coloured thee wire and bulb area. I thought that if I added some fine tip glue over the bulbs it might make them appear brighter....But it didn't, I now have almost black lights with a coloured glowing area surrounding them 😂 Oh dear...we live and learn.

Crazy Crafters blog hop with Patsy Waggoner

Hello and welcome to another Crazy Crafter's blog hop.

Today our special guest and source of inspiration is none other than the lovely Patsy Waggoner of Stamps To Die For.
I love Patsy's work mainly because she uses DSP so well. I am a bit of a paper hoarder, Okay I HUGE paper hoarder 😕 and because of this I tend to only use small pieces instead of bigger ones for my cards.......
So,
today I got brave and chopped my gorgeous Frosted Floral DSP and paired it with the matching bundle called 'First Frost'

This card is not your everyday Christmas card, there is no traditional red and greens anywhere here. I have used Mint Macaron, Crumb Cake and Bright Copper

I have used a new suite for today called the 'Frosted Floral' suite. It comprises of Designer Series Paper, a Stamps set and matching Framelits along with loads of gorgeous embellishments. All of these items will be available to you from the 5th of September.

Basic Instructions

• My card base is half and A4 sheet. Cut Portrait style at 10.5cm then score landscape at 14.9cm
• The label was created using Shimmery White card stock and has been adhered using Dimensionals.
• The image used is from the Bundle 'First Frost' and has been stamped off the label. The stamp itself was coloured using Stampin' Write Markers in Blackberry Bliss, Mint Macaron and Shaded Spruce.
• I stamped this image again on a scrap piece of Shimmery White by colouring the stamp in the same manner as above and Die cut it using the matching Framelits. This was adhered over the top of the first image using Mini Dimensionals.
• The sentiment has been stamped in Blackberry Bliss, using the Stamparatus.  I then daubed Bright Copper Shimmer paint randomly over the stamp and re-stamped over the top.
• I honoured Patsy today by using a full card front sized piece of this gorgeous 'Frosted Floral' pearlized DSP cut at 10.1cm x 14.5cm. This has had Bright Copper Shimmer Paint lightly scrunched over the surface. 
• I sanded the edges of the DSP ever so lightly, just to enhance the already distressed look the DSP has. This was adhered to my card base using MultiPurpose Liquid Glue.
• I used the Corrugated Dynamic TIEF to create the piece of distressed cardboard positioned behind my label. This has also had Bright Copper Shimmer Paint daubed/wiped randomly in places.
• I used a 30 cm length of Copper Trim uncut, but pulled out wide over the corrugated card stock. I held this in place with glue dots before wrapping Linen Thread around the trim and corrugated card piece.
• I added to this a Corrugated Element (also daubed with Shimmer Paint cause I just LOVE THE STUFF!) with a bow of Linen Thread and a Copper Metallic Brad. All adhered to the trim using a glue dot.

I am one of those people that have to have some extra special cards that I send to my treasured family and friends each year. These type of cards have to be hand delivered though, as I tend to create them a little bulky lol.

And as I simply adore Shabby Chic and Vintage looks, this is the style I have chosen to create my first couple of Christmas cards in.
AND Some of the new products lend itself to these looks extremely well!

I do get VERY excited about texture and I must say that while I was creating these two cards I started giggling and clapping like a little girl at Christmas time haha. I was just a bit happy that no-one was home at the time too lmao!

Here is a little info about what went into these designs.

 I have only used a small piece of Designer Series Paper for this card. The DSP and the corrugated Crumb Cake has been distressed around the edges.
The word joy has been coloured using sponge daubers and Bright Copper Shimmer Paint.
I also created a poinsettia to top my card with.
I mentioned this small Poinsettia that you can see in another post earlier today.

I have kept the Shabby Vintage feel for this card too, using a lot of the same elements from my first card.
The main difference between these two cards is the added piece of DSP behind the 'Tin Tile' embossed 'Cherry Cobbler' card stock and the label plate.
I created the sentiment label plate using 'Pretty Label' punch and the 'Bright Copper Shimmer Paint'. This was given a tarnished effect by rubbing Memento black ink around the edges and gently over part of the front. I also added metallic brads in copper to each end.
To bring the Crumb Cake colour from the background to the front I have added a pulled apart length of Burlap Ribbon behind the sentiment plate.

 I have used 'Old Olive' and 'Mossy Meadow' card stock for the sprigs. The Berries have been stamped using the two step stamp from the 'Peaceful Noel' stamp set, in 'Memento' and 'Cherry Cobbler' inks. One layer of the Berries has had the 'Clear Epoxy Droplets' added after colouring with the 'Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends'.

Ink It Stamp It - Blog Hop - Technique

Welcome to the Ink It Stamp It Design Team.

We are sharing with you today some techniques.

I adore colouring in all forms, so I chose to do some colouring using pencils and Stampin' Blends for today's post and created some Christmas theme designs.

Carols Of Christmas bundle - Onstage Swaps 2017

I made a little pinteresty style photo showing the steps I used to create this card with.

I used my layering Ovals framelits for the DSP and black scalloped oval.

The cute little deer from the Carols of Christmas stamp set and the pine trees for the silhouettes in black and silver from the Card Front Builder dies which is part of the Carols Of Christmas bundle.

The DSP used is called Merry Music Speciality Designer Series Paper.
