Stamping Sunday - Fave Holiday Catalogue Product and How To Step Up Your Cards

Hello everyone 😊
and
Welcome to the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop (Second Sunday) hosted by Sara Levin.

You are currently here with Kim Oliver - KO Creations Cards - Australia. I have a list of hop participants closer to the end of this post.

Today the Design Team are creating with our favourite sets from the Holiday Catalogue. I have chosen the 'Making Christmas Bright' bundle and thought I would share with you how simple it is to STEP UP a card from simple to more extravagant but still keeping the same feel.

#KOCreationsCards #MakingChristmasBrightBundle #StampinBlends #StampinUp #ChristmasCards #SteppedUpCards #BeginnerCardMaking #AvidCardMakers #ColouringWithAlcoholMarkers

Here are my projects for today's hop.
I have created 3 Christmas cards, each card has been stepped up just a small fraction from the one before.

May Your Christmas Be Bright

#KOCreationsCards #MakingChristmasBrightBundle #StampinBlends #StampinUp #ChristmasCards #SteppedUpCards #BeginnerCardMaking #AvidCardMakers #ColouringWithAlcoholMarkers

From right to left we have the the original simpler style card, with the middle card being slightly more involved and finally the 3rd card having had added slightly details, each new item that has been added brings something different to the original design.

The Original card

Basic techniques for the beginner

#KOCreationsCards #MakingChristmasBrightBundle #StampinBlends #StampinUp #ChristmasCards #SteppedUpCards #BeginnerCardMaking #AvidCardMakers #ColouringWithAlcoholMarkers

Here I have layered the Brights Designer Series Paper with matching card stock and then topped it with whisper white stamped image topper. The stamping is straight forward with the eye being drawn to the addition of the coloured and punched Christmas globe.
The technique for stamping the word Bright is called 'Shadow Technique' and is a wonderful affect to teach beginners along with basic layering skills. Basic 'Alcohol Colouring' techniques have been used for the Christmas globe. There are no lines to stay inside and showcases perfectly how to use the colour lifter and blending abilities of these markers.

The Second card

Stepped up for the casual crafter

#KOCreationsCards #MakingChristmasBrightBundle #StampinBlends #StampinUp #ChristmasCards #SteppedUpCards #BeginnerCardMaking #AvidCardMakers #ColouringWithAlcoholMarkers

Using all of the same items and techniques from the first card we have managed to step up this card just by adding dimension and bling. By placing the sentiment of a piece of coloured card shaped with paper snips  this has given the card extra dimension and focal interest plus adding a little bling with the addition of rhinestones helps draw the eye back to the original focal area..

The Third Card

Stepped Up for the avid crafter

#KOCreationsCards #MakingChristmasBrightBundle #StampinBlends #StampinUp #ChristmasCards #SteppedUpCards #BeginnerCardMaking #AvidCardMakers #ColouringWithAlcoholMarkers

To give this card the helping hand it needed to punch above it's starting weight we first changed the colour up 😊 then we have added the gorgeous matching Poppy Parade ribbon as a side trim and to finish we have added a touch more colour by extending the light string and by colouring the rhinestones with the matching Alcohol Markers again keeps the eye drawn to the original focal area.

All of these little extra add ons are subtle differences side by side. But each step appeals to different people and different levels of crafting abilities or needs.

Thank you so very much for joining me today.

Go For Greece Blog Hop - Blended Seasons

Hello and welcome to Kylie's Go For Greece training group blog hop.

The groups name says it all, we are all part of a FB group with the aim of trying to reach the Stampin' Up! incentive trip. We help and support other through each step and cheer those that make the trip along.

My project today has been created from a bundle that is only available during the month of August.
It's a Limited Edition bundle called 'Blended Seasons'

I find this bundle absolutely and TOTALLY AMAZING!
I have created Christmas cards, Wedding cards, Window cards and now a card created for a friend using the leaves stamp.

Here is my project for today's hop.

Friend

#KOCreationsCards #BlendedSeasons #Techniques #CardMaking #ShimmerPaint #StitchedSeasons #StampinUp30 #StampinBlends #LimitedEditionBundle #August2018 #AutumnLeaves #InspiredByNature

I created this card at a demonstrator friends place only last weekend. I actually made a mistake while I was stamping with the Bright Bronze shimmer paint. I moved the paper with my fingers, so my shimmer painttt and my leaves do not line up 😑 I do silly things like that ALLLLLL the time haha.

But, I decided I was going to use it anyway!

I used the splatter from the 'Swirly Bird' stamp set and added Bright Copper Shimmer Paint to a sponge Dauber. I daubed the copper onto the splatter stamp and created my background.
I glued this onto my Whisper White card base
I mounted the die cut label on Dimensionals and glued the other leaves into position.
I stamped another two sets of leaves and coloured them using my Stampin' Blends and fussy cut them out. I then die cut 2 leaves in copper and popped them over the top of the largest leaves slightly offset. I masked one of the sentiments as all I wanted was the word 'Friend' and inked it in Old Olive.

I have to say I am really impressed with how my mistake turned out. What do you think?

#KOCreationsCards #BlendedSeasons #Techniques #CardMaking #ShimmerPaint #StitchedSeasons #StampinUp30 #StampinBlends #LimitedEditionBundle #August2018 #AutumnLeaves #InspiredByNature

This card uses a couple of simple techniques such as masking, colouring and fussy cutting. These and so many more techniques are part of my monthly classes and down line meetings/crafting sessions.

For me, holding classes gives me regular contact with my customers. It also makes me think outside the box so I can keep new people arriving and learning the joys of stamping.
Teaching techniques and watching others create projects from scratch is something I live for. Seeing the look on their faces when they realise that they, THEY are doing it...gets me every time.
The monthly team meetings also gives me a chance to keep my team members up to date with whats happening and offer help or advice if required.

Ok enough about me and what I love. I am sure you are searching for the hop list so you can keep moving through.

Crazy Crafters blog hop with special guest Cathy Caines

Hello everyone and welcome.

I am participating in a blog hop as part of the Crazy Crafters.
Our special guest today is super talented Cathy Caines of In The Cat Cave

We have all chosen a project of Cathy's to CASE and are sharing everything with you today.

You are currently here with Kim Oliver - KOCreations Cards. I have a complete list of hop participants closer to the end of this post.

Here is the project I have chosen to CASE

I love that this design is simple and uses up some lovely DSP.

I tend to hoard my DSP so this is one of the reasons for choosing this design.

Here is my project.

Birthday Foils

#kocreationscards #springtimefoils #2018saleabration #2018occasions #stampinblends #loveitchopit #cardmaking #papercraft #stampinup #simplecards

As you can see it is rather a simple layout.
My card base is Crumb Cake with a layer of the Springtime Foils Designer Series Paper (copper foil accents).  I fussy cut a small flower from another sheet of the DSP, coloured it and adhered it to a medium stitched circle cut from Crumb Cake card stock. I scrunched up a length of copper thread under the circle and adhered all to my card front.
I added a copper heat embossed sentiment to the focal to finish.
Voila a pretty and super easy card.

SDBH - Easter Theme

Hello 😊

Welcome back to my blog.

Today I am hopping with the Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop DT.
Our theme for today is Easter.

My children love Easter time....as most kids do hahaha.
But, so does my Mum. I try to spoil her a bit every year by creating a gift and card for her.
Below is my card created for her this year.
You are here with me Kim Oliver - KOCreations Cards. I have a complete list of all blog hop participants closer to the end of this post.

Happy Easter

#kocreationscards #youreinspiring #easter #cardmaking #stampingup #stampinblends  #saleabration2018 #2018occasionscatalogue
I have used an eclectic mix of a few different sets from the 2018 Occasions Catalogue to create this card with.
  • You're Inspiring Stamp set pg 31
  • Myths and Magic washi tape pg 37
  • Petals and More thinlits dies pg 23

My background

Hmmmm
Well this happened by accident really.
I had nearly coloured a whole card front in light Pool Party, but had accidentally picked up the dark Pool Party while chatting, and well, you guessed it. I started colouring with it mindlessly 😂 just filling in the spaces I hadn't earlier.
OMG
I looked down and nearly had a freaking heart attack!
S&%T! What am I gonna do!
Oh well lets have a play I thought. Whats the worst that could happen hahaha.
I started by trying to lift out the darker colour and blending it in. I noticed then that, because I had left part of it to dry, it (the Pool Party) was streaking before lifting.
This gave me an idea of like a whirlpool.
So, I started spinning the paper little by little as I lifted colour. If I went to much I just added in some light Pool Party again.
I repeated this until I was happy with how it was looking.

For my focal I coloured the daffodil stamped image with the stampin' Write markers Old Olive and Daffodil Delight.
I then cut it out using the stitched shapes oval  and layered that onto a scalloped oval.

 Front View

#kocreationscards #youreinspiring #easter #cardmaking #stampingup #stampinblends #saleabration2018 #2018occasionscatalogue
I love the finished product, it has a very hypnotic effect hehe.
It's amazing how sometimes even a mistake can created into something beautiful.

Now I just hope my Mum loves it too.

Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop - Colouring

Welcome 😊
You are joining me today for a blog hop with the Stamping Dreams crew.
We are all focusing on colouring this month. Using some of Stampin' Up!'s fabulous colouring range.

I can't say I have a favourite of them, but I do enjoy colouring with the new Stampin' Blends that are now available.

You are currently here with me Kim Oliver. I will have a full list of blog hop participants closer to the end of this post.
I have chose to use the wonderfully easy to use Stampin' Blends and the gorgeous Designer Series Paper from the Occasions catalogue called Petal Passion, along with the Petal Palette bundle.

It's perfect for colouring as you can see below.

#kocreationcards #petalpassion #petalpalette #cardmaking #stampinup #stampinblends #birthdaycards #valentines

Here are my cards

Happy Birthday to You

#kocreationcards #petalpassion #petalpalette #cardmaking #stampinup #stampinblends #birthdaycards #valentines

I coloured my sheet (almost) completely before I decided to cut into it. I hated cutting it too 😢  But in the end I think I managed to showcase the coloured paper as much as I could and created something beautiful to give as well.

 From The Heart

#kocreationcards #petalpassion #petalpalette #cardmaking #stampinup #stampinblends #birthdaycards #valentines

For both cards I have used the layering circle framelits plus the stitched shapes to create the focal area.

Stampin Sunday Blog Hop - Petal Passion

No automatic alt text available.
Hello and welcome 😊

I am here today with the Stamping Sunday Blog Hop hosted by Sara Levin.
Our theme today is Petal Passion suite form the Occasions catalogue. This suite can be found on pages 23 with the Petal Passion memories and more pack on page 24.
You are currently here with me Kim Oliver. I will have a  full list of hop participants closer to the end of this post

Here are my projects today using the Petal Passion Memories and More card pack and the Petal Palette stamp set.

You Are My Sunshine

#kocreationscards #petalpalette #petalpassion #stampinblends #stampinup #memoriesandmore #cardmaking #papercraft #flowers

For my first card I used up a few pieces of ephemera that I had created from earlier makes.
I have added them to the layers of Memories and More cards that have been trimmed and fussy cut.
The colours of this set are so soft and romantic. They make the perfect Valentines/Weddings and Engagement cards PLUS the cards fit perfectly into our Memory Keeping albums and pockets.
A wonderful way to store your treasured memories.

Love

#kocreationscards #petalpalette #petalpassion #stampinblends #stampinup #memoriesandmore #cardmaking #papercraft #flowers

This card is super simple. It is one large M&M card layered onto Basic Black and then glued to a Pink Pirouette card base. I have added a small sentiment and a few glitter enamel shapes to finish.

I Just Love You

#kocreationscards #petalpalette #petalpassion #stampinblends #stampinup #memoriesandmore #cardmaking #papercraft #flowers

Once again a super simple card to create. All I did for this card was colour the M&M card, stamp the sentiment directly onto the card front and layered as above.
Look how stunning it turned out.
The versatility of these Memories and More cards amazes me every time I use them.

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop - Stampin' Blends - Just Add Colour

No automatic alt text available.

Hello everyone 😊
Did you miss me??
Some of you may have noticed that I took a wee break before the Christmas Crazy period began!
Well I am back now and getting my creative on.

Today for the Stampin Sunday Blog Hop we are showcasing the NEW Stampin' Blends.
You are currently visiting Kim Oliver of Australia and you can find a list of all other talented creators closer to the end of this post.

Who has tried the Stampin Blends already?
What was your impressions?
Who has them on their wish list? My Mum does after playing with my set!

Well, I couldn't wait to get my hands on them and purchased them as soon as I could.
From the first pen stroke, I fell in LOVE!!
They glide on so smoothly, no catching and are SUPER EASY to use.
PLUS the colours are just so VIBRANT!

Pictured below are my two cards created using the Stampin' Blends along with the 'Just Add Colour' DSP which seemed pretty obvious to me hehe.
I also used 'Count My Blessings'  plus 'Grown with Love' stamp sets with the stitched shapes and layering ovals to accentuate my focal area and sentiments.

For the first card below I have used the 'Count My Blessing' stamp set to create the leafy repeat stamped background. I fussy cut the watering can and flowers from the DSP sheet after colouring.

All Things Grow With Love

I simply adore that sentiment, it can be used to encourage anybody that needs a little lift.

#KOCreationscards #Stampinblends #Justaddcolour #Gardening #Flowers #Cardmaking #Stampinup #Rubberstamping

I was certainly enamoured with the watering cans and flowers on that particular DSP sheet, so much so I had to create another card.

I admit I was a bit rusty with my colouring with the card above, see the improvement with my colouring below?
As with all techniques the more you practise the better you get 😉

Amazing You

#KOCreationscards #Stampinblends #Justaddcolour #Gardening #Flowers #Cardmaking #Stampinup #Rubberstamping

Looking at the card above you can see that the colours don't actually bleed into each other when colouring next to another completely different colour! That is even though they are super juicy pens and glide on so smoothly yet, at the same time you can blend similar colour families to perfection!

* Kim's Tips

  • If you do make a mistake and colour outside of the lines or in a section you didn't want to, just grab the colour lifter and rub it over the area you want removed! The Colour Lifter is also a perfect way to add texture and highlights to your project.
  • The Just Add Colour DSP is perfect for the Stampin' Blends. It is a thicker grade paper. The Stampin' Blends should only ever be used on thick card stocks or papers like the above mentioned DSP and our Thick Whisper White card stock.
  • Also use a scratch piece of paper under your work as the colours will eventually bleed through the paper to the underside, especially if colouring repeatedly in the same section.
To continue moving through our hop just click the name after mine on the list below.

If you are searching for any of the items I used to create these card designs with then please check the carousel out below. It has all items listed and is linked directly to my store for your convenience.

Thank you so very much for visiting me today.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask them in the comments section.
I ALWAYS REPLY.
😊
