Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop - Guest Designer

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog 😊
I have been asked to be a guest designer today for the Paper Adventures Team blog hop, the theme is CAS (Clean and Simple)
This is a design I adore but I tend to struggle with, I never can tell when to stop adding things 😂

I chose to create some cute little baby cards using the Little Twinkle bundle and matching DSP

I really wasn't thinking about any particular design idea when I made these. I just adored the paper and the stamp set and wanted to create with them. I keep thinking that these would be perfect for to twin sets boy/boy, girl/girl AND boy/girl.

To create these cute cards I used Whisper white (thick) card stock with layers of Night Of Navy (boy) and Calypso Coral (girl) and 1/3 sheet of Powder Pink and Pool Party constellations DSP.
I distressed the edges of the DSP after they had been cut to size. I cut the DSP to the exact same size as the bottom coloured layer. This was done so that the darker colour only just peeped out from beneath the distressed edges.

Today I am focusing on the Animal Expedition DSP and a lovely couple of cards. 

One of which is a fun Tri Fold card.

Here is my first card created using the Animal Outing DSP.

This cute little number could be for a birthday or even to welcome a little neice or nephew to the family.

For this card I used one piece of DSP only. I cut this DSP sheet at 10.1cm x 14.5cm and then turned it over and cut another piece slightly smaller at 9.7cm x 14.1cm.
I added the sentiment and framed it using the Frames Elements. I used the matching Dies to die cut this adorable Rhino to make this image stand out from the rest I placed him slightly over the top of the sentiment.

Using the DSP once again I decide I would have a play with a Bronwyn Eastley AddINKtive Designs tutorial called Tri-Fold Window Card  (Available Here)

For some of these images the matching Framelits will die cut, for others you have to fussy cut. The ones that I fussy cut were the Sloth, the Chameleons and the left facing Giraffe and right facing Rhino plus the 2 little birds. Oh and I fussy cut the frog and branch as the die doesn't match the size of this DSP image.

You know what I love about this design?
It is totally reversible!
You can have it front facing or back facing and if done properly looks just as great both ways.

I love creating for the arrival of new little bundles of joy. Each baby is as individual as you or I and so should the cards be.

Items used

• Cards stock - Whisper White thick, Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso (10 cm x  10cm piece)
• Inks - Lemon Lime Twist (LLT) , Garden Green, Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie and Soft Sky.
• Stampin' Blends - Crumb Cake light and dark, Calypso Coral light, Daffodil Delight light and dark, Pink Pirouette light and Colour Lifter.
• Stamp - A Little Wild
• Dies - Little Loves, Stitched Shapes and Layering Ovals.
• Embossing Folder - Hexagons dynamic impressions textured embossing folder (TIEF)
• Stamping Sponges
• Ombre Ribbon -  LLT

Method

• Score Whisper White card stock at 10.5 cm portrait style and fold and burnish on score line. 
• Cut at 14.9 cm. This will give you 2 card bases. 
• Cut Daffodil Delight to 14.9cm x 10.1cm. Cut out the Largest stitched shape oval from the centre. Lightly spritz and run through big shot in Hexagon TIEF
• Cut 1 WW card base in half, so you have 2 pieces at 10.5cm x 14.9cm. Use one for sponging and the other for sentiments and stamping images.
• Stamp images in Early Espresso ink except for the flower. Stamp this in Pumpkin Pie and Lemon Lime Twist
• Colour images with stampin' Blends and then die cut them.
• For the background oval - *Sponge a layer of LLT over to create the hill. Then Lightly sponge Garden Green over the bottom half, this makes the hill lighter on top and also adds a little depth. Sponge Soft Sky over the top half moving upwards and in a circular motion away from the hill so that it becomes lighter at the top.
• Cut out this with the Stitched Shapes largest oval die.
• From the Early Espresso 10 x 10 piece cut out another oval using the stitched shapes oval again but also layer it with the largest Layering Oval. This will give you the straight edge frame for the Daffodil Delight hexagon embossed card front layer. Glue fame into position.
• Glue the DD card front to the base.
• Adhere the die cut images to the sponged oval and then adhere this into position using dimensionals.
• Stamp and cut sentiments into banners and then adhere those where desired.
• Tie a length of LLT Ombre ribbon around the card and tie in a bow.

*NOTE - Make sure you create the sponged area larger than your oval will be. Also to get a sharp hill tear a scrap of paper to shape and use this as a mask.
