Picture Perfect Inkspiration- GDP075

Welcome back crafter's.

The project I am sharing today has been inspired by two creative challenges this week. One is a colour challenge from Colour Inkpisration's DT and the other is a theme from the Global Design Project's DT

#Pictureperfect #Hummingbird #Handmadecards #KOCreationscards #Australianmade #Eleganteggplant #Delightfuldijon #Crushedcurry #Whipserwhite #Inspiredbynature

Here is the colour challenge from Colour INKspiration

In case you can't see the names from the image above:
Delightful Dijon, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White and Crushed Curry are the colours.

AND
This is the theme from GDP
#Globaldesignteam

For my project I used the Picture Perfect stamp set...I adore the hummingbird image  it's a fave of mine and does lend itself to the artsy look so very well.

Here is my card. For both challenges #GDP075 and #CI04

Method

First I placed the stamp image where I wanted it to be.
I then put a Layering Circle (2nd largest) over the top and drew inside the circle where it would meet the stamped image.
After putting the stamp to the side I ran it through the big shot leaving the pieces I didn't want to be cut over hanging from the sandwich boards.
I added 1 drop of ink in Elegant Eggplant to a clear block and put 3 drops of water in each. I mixed together and drew the colour up inside the eyedropper.
I spritzed the water colour paper lightly with water and then dropped colour where I wanted it. I then re spritzed with water to move it around. I repeated this process with the crushed curry.
I dried it off with the a heat tool. I spritzed water and then Whisper White over the top of the watercolouring.
I then started with the hummingbird image.
First layer I used Crushed Curry, making sure to dry between layers.
Second layer is Delightful Dijon and lastly Elegant Eggplant...This looks almost black.
Once the image was completely dry I cut the circle arcs out and fussy cut around the bird.
I trimmed the watercolour paper to the size I wanted. I cut a piece of window sheet and glued it to the back of the image.
I added dimensionals to the back of my card front so that it would sit flat...I placed them in a solid line around the circle, to do this I cut along the edge of the dimensional sheet where they are all joined together. Remove the backs of the dimensionals ready for sticking.
Using the Rhinestones I placed them upside down on the window sheet and then put my Elegant Eggplant backing over the top. Line up before pressing firmly to adhere.
The sentiment is from the same set as the hummingbird and has been embossed using Whisper White.

Here is there design challenge that I mentioned.

Here is the project that I made using the glimmer paper and the Reverse Words stamp set from the 2nd release Sale-A-Bration items.

  • Adhesives
Fine-tip Glue Pen - 138309
Tear and Tape - 138995
Mini Glue Dots - 103683

Method
For this super quick and easy card I placed some Clear Wink of Stella onto a clear block.
I inked the stamp with the ink pad and then smooched the stamp around in the Wink Of Stella. I did the same for each separate colour, cleaning the block and stamp every time.
I backed the stamped images with Sweet Sugarplum glimmer paper, glued the sequin trims onto the front and added the elegant butterfly just for a touch more glimmer :)
The inside has been layered the same as the front just to help keep the theme true from the front and to add even a bit more bling.

One can never have enough BLING!
lol

#2ndrelease #Saleabration #Glimmerpaper #Reversewords #KOCreationscards #Hooray #Australianmade

Unfortunately I couldn't catch the glimmery colours of the reverse word images from the application of the  Clear Wink of Stella. It looks amazing IRL and really helps to bring this simple card to life.

Don't forget to keep moving though the hop and I hope you find some inspirational projects along the way.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to stop by, I do hope you have enjoyed your visit.
  AND
just to remind you of the first installment of FREE items that you can earn I will post another image below

Scrapbooking with Stampin' Up!

Welcome once again to my blog!

I was invited by a friend to go away for a weekend for a scrapcamp...I was intrigued so decided I would pack a few supplies and go see what it was all about...

SCRAPBOOKING hmmmm

Now I used to scrap book MANY many years ago and that lead to my love of paper crafting and card making.
But to actually make a page and a layout from scratch was something I hadn't done for 16 YEARS!!!
Could I do it !?!
I was given the address and a basic list of what I needed to take for food and sleeping etc..It took an hour and a half to drive to the middle of no where at the base of a mountain. The South Mt Cameron  Field study Centre to be exact.

I admit I was nervous and really worried that I would look silly in front of all the other ladies who were far more proficient in the art of scrapbooking than I.
But after the drive, a cuppa, introducing ourselves to each other and then unpacking we all just grabbed a table and got to creating.
The page  below was entered into Kylie Bertucci's weekly highlights. I would love it if you could stop by to place a vote Click HERE to VOTE
I will share with you some of my pages that were completed over the weekend.

#Scrapbookpage #Helloyou #KOCreationscards #Fallinginlove #Madewithlove

For this Layout I used the Falling in Love DSP and matching Card stock. The flowers were made using the Succulent Framelits die set. The Lace doilies are also from the same suite as the DSP. I cut them in half and placed around my framed photographs, I also punched the butterfly toppers from a doily for added interest points.  I used sequins from the Cupcakes and Carousels embellishment kit to the centre of the flowers. I added a metallic enamel shape in gold to the back of my butterflies. The sentiment was created by cutting two sets of words from the Hello You thinlits set and layering them to form a shadow effect.
#Scrapbookpage #Helloyou #KOCreationscards #Fallinginlove #Madewithlove

I covered each Sahara Sand flower in Clear Wink of Stella for an extra bit of bling. The bricks have been embossed in whisper white embossing powder and was from the Ghoulish Grunge stamp set.

My sweet little girl was only 5 moths old in these photographs and was just learning to sit up on her own. She is now 6 years old and is now learning to rider horses!
She is still very much a girly girl and loves flowers and dresses.

#Scrapbookpage #Helloyou #KOCreationscards #Fallinginlove #Madewithlove #Fruitstand

For this next layout I used the Fruit Stand DSP as it matched the yellow of the frame and the colours in my photograph perfectly. The little tag on the left was created using the tags and labels Framelits. I punched the butterfly using the Bitty Butterfly punch from the peach centres.

#Scrapbookpage #Helloyou #KOCreationscards #Fallinginlove #Madewithlove #Fruitstand

My little man was only just 2 and a half in this photo and loved being outside...he still enjoys the outdoors and is now 8.

#Scrapbookpage #Helloyou #KOCreationscards #Fallinginlove #Madewithlove #Urbanunderground

For this layout I used the Urban Undergound DSP ... It is fast becoming a favourite set and am looking forward to creating more with it...The pictures are again of my little man Billy and is aged 3...he received the loader for Christmas that year (2011)

#Scrapbookpage #Helloyou #KOCreationscards #Fallinginlove #Madewithlove #Urbanunderground
For the half circles I used the layering circles framelits and folded them in half over  Basic Black bakers twine to form a banner. For the letters I used a machine that scans and cuts (not mine and I don't know the brand, sorry)
#Scrapbookpage #Helloyou #KOCreationscards #Fallinginlove #Madewithlove #Urbanunderground

My little boy loved playing with his machines in his gravel/sand pit and I might add he still does even at age 8. I actually remember sneaking outside and snapping a couple of photos before he spotted me and posed lol.

#Scrapbookpage #Helloyou #KOCreationscards #Fallinginlove #Madewithlove #Urbanunderground

This last one is also of my children and a good friend. This was the first layout made at Scrapcamp upon arriving. The photos were taken at a local Lavender Farm at the tail end of the harvesting season last month.

I created the flowers using the Succulent Framelits dies and added a rhinestone to the centre of each one. The ribbon is real red and has been ruched by pulling a centre thread then adhering in place under each photo.
I apologise for the quality of this photo ... the sun disappeared just as I took it and hasn't returned again!

I hoped you enjoyed these projects. I know I had a ball creating them, it has re-awakened the desire to create more layouts of my children at different stages of their lives. I have taken so many photo's of them doing what they love, why not create with them !!

Thanks so much for stopping by :)

I have listed most items I used to create these layout for your convenience below. Just click on  any item you require to purchase that item from my store.

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Georgia Giguere

Image may contain: text

Hello everyone :)
Welcome back to my blog!

Today we (The Crazy Crafter's) are hopping with a super talented lady by the name of Georgia Giguere.
We have all chosen a project of Georgia's to CASE (Copy and Selective Edit) and have come together to share with you what we have accomplished.
You are currently here with me (Kim Oliver)
I will have a list at the end of my blog for you to keep following through the hop.

This is the card from Georgia's blog that I have chosen to CASE.

I chose to use the general layout for my project although I did change the way mine opens.

I had an order for a child's birthday and as I knew that this was coming up, I went searching through Georgia's projects for some inspiration.
I was so very happy when I found this Lift Me Up card.
It gave me an idea instantly for the little girls birthday card!

The Suite I chose to use was Cupcakes and Carousels.

Oh my what a gorgeous Suite it is too, it's available until the 31st of May and can be found on page 9 of the Occasions Catalogue!

Here is my card.

Because Spoiling You Is So Much Fun!

The edges of the DSP have been distressed to give a vintage look. I also sponged lightly Early Espresso over the front of the card to help build on the aged effect.

Partially Open View

For this card I chose 2 base colours.
The left fold is Whisper White and the right fold is Calypso Coral.
My layers under the distressed DSP is Early Espresso.
My front was stamped in Calyspo Coral with Early Espresso  using the Carousel Horse, the Tent and the Ferris Wheel all from Carousel Birthday stamp set. Early espresso was added to the mix after the original image was stamped to keep the theme running through the Designer Series Paper (DSP) true..
Both of the carousel horses have been fussy cut, with one cut from the DSP and added to the inside for an interest point and aiding the flow of the theme from the front to the inside.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog.
Please keep hopping through to the end, you never know what other goodies you will find along the way!

Oh and by the way, she LOVED her card :) Horses are a fave of that little munchkin atm!

If you are looking to purchase any of the products I have sued for this project, I have listed them for your convenience in the carousal below.

For my card I chose colours that reminded me of a warm summery day by the water.

INKS: Marina Mist, Soft Sky, Peekaboo Peach and Soft Suede + Marina Mist Stampin Write Marker
CARD STOCK:Thick Whisper White and Marina Mist
TOOLS: Big Shot, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Layering Square Framelits, Aqua Painter, Clear Blocks, Window Sheet and Sponges.

I made my little scene by using the reflection technique.
Technique: stamping main images onto a window sheet then turning upside down and pressing image onto card stock.

After I had completed that I cut the image to size using the Layering Squares framelits and created layers using a stitched shape in Whisper White and a scalloped square in Marina Mist.
I backed the focal with a piece of folded burlap ribbon, which is being held in place with a staple.

For my background I stamped the sentiment repeatedly in Soft Sky. Then Marina Mist was added over the top by running the marker on the underside of the larger lettering on the stamp and then stamping directly over the Soft Sky....Don't forget to huff on the ink before stamping!

Thanks for visiting my blog today make sure you head over to Kylie's blog - http://bit.ly/KyliesFebHighlights to vote for my project.

I would love to be chosen to do an international blog hop :)

Thanks again and enjoy your day xx

You Will Always Be Number 1 - #GDP074

Welcome back crafter's :)
For my projects today I went with a more masculine feel...I was actually planning to enter them into the International Blog Highlights but that theme is "Get Well Soon"

As you can see, the card projects don't quite fit the theme!

#Urbunundergroundsuite #Malecards #KOCreationscards #Handmade #Mensbirthday #Fathersday

I read it and I read it properly too I might add lol...thought oh yeah I can do that...then made my cards with out even thinking of the theme...Not even once!!!!! Typical, just had an idea and ran with it  Oh well lol...
I then went perusing through Global Designs Projects to see who had been chosen last week as Guest Designer...
And found a sketch challenge for this week! #GDP074

LOOK

Woohoo I had a project ready made, Go me!

You Will Always Be NUMBER ONE

Card 1

#Urbunundergroundsuite #Malecards #KOCreationscards #Handmade #Mensbirthday #Fathersday

Both of these cards was created using items from the Urban Underground Suite.

You may see slight differences with each card as I alternated the colours for the tag and banner for each card + I used different threads behind the sentiments.  The one above has Very Vanilla bakers twine while the one below has Black Metallic thread.
Just for another little change I used differing embellishments for each focal area too.

Card 2

#Urbunundergroundsuite #Malecards #KOCreationscards #Handmade #Mensbirthday #Fathersday

My card base for both cards is Basic Black. The front layers being the Very Vanilla circles DSP .
The card directly above has the addition of silver foil as an extra layer which has then been adhered to the base using dimensionals

For the focal area I used the Tags and Labels Framelits die and layered my ephemera over the top.

All items from the Urban Underground Suite can be found on page 47 of the Occasions Catalogue.

Moon Baby - #CI03

Welcome back crafter's :)

Today's project was inspired by all the new baby blessings arriving recently..
+
so many bundles of love that are nearly due to arrive!

#Moonbaby #Marinamist #Peekaboopeach #Softsky #Babyshower #Twinkletwinkle #KOCreationscards #Handmade #Australianmade #Cardmaking #Cupcakesandcarousels

I chose my colours from the Colour Inkspiration creative challenge that is running atm.
Click HERE to see the page and all of the other talented designers that have been inspired by this colour swatch

Here is a picture of the gorgeous colours that the Colour Inkspiration crew are challenging us with !!

In case you can't see the names in the image the colours are:
Marina Mist, Peekaboo Peach, Soft Suede, Whisper White and Soft Sky!
Very reminiscent of the beach...or perhaps it's the scene that gives me that impression lol

I used all colours in both projects.

Twinkle Twinkle Moon Baby

#Moonbaby #Marinamist #Peekaboopeach #Softsky #Babyshower #Twinkletwinkle #KOCreationscards #Handmade #Australianmade #Cardmaking #Cupcakesandcarousels #Babyboy #Babygirl

For this project I chose the row of fluffy toys and made them into a banner above the sleeping/dreaming cutie. I stamped the little moon baby onto whisper white before die cutting it with the circle that is JUST slightly smaller than the moon half circle. I backed this with the Soft Suede card stock and a piece of Peekaboo Peach DSP from the Cupcakes and Carousels suite.

This gorgeous sleeping Moon Baby image has been coloured using Peekaboo Peach, Marina Mist and Soft Sky...I added   Clear Wink of Stella to the crescent moon and the star has been enhanced using a Peekaboo Peach enamel shape

For added texture and interest I added some more enamel shapes to the stars along the fluffy animals line in the corresponding colours of Peekaboo Peach and Marina Mist.

I added coordinating layers to the inside of my card plus the row  of cuddly toys to keep the theme true to the front.

P.S I drew the line and bow using my Soft Suede marker.

For this little bundle of cuteness I used Thick Whisper White as my base, Whisper white as my card front, which has been layered with Marina Mist card stock.

The little baby has been coloured by blending Soft Sky and Marina Mist with an aqua painter and I also used Craft White for highlighting. The umbrella has been coloured using my Marina Mist Marker with an Aqua Painter and Craft White. I blended Soft Sky into parts of the umbrellato give the illusion of 3D.

The little floating bundle of joy was die cut using the stitched shapes framelits, for a touch more colour I went around the stitching detail with my Marina Mist marker. I then trimmed and inked the negative square in Soft Sky for the photo frame.

For the inside, I layered the exact same colours to help carry my theme + I filled the bottom quarter of the card with two toned stars to match the front.
