Just beautiful!

You have joined me from the wonderful Tanya Bell's page and I know that you would have been inspired by her beautiful Mothers Day card. I certainly was!
All those Delicious layers 😍

I chose to use a set that has been hiding on my shelf for a number of months. I adore this set from the time it was released and still do today.
I have combined it with something new and fabulous!

Here is my project

 Delightfully Detailed Dragonfly's

#KOCreationsCards #Dragonflydreams #Delightfullydetailedlasercutspecialtypaper #ColourINKspiration #CI33 #Inspiredbynature

Items Used

  •  Dragonfly Dreams stamp set plus the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits
  • Thick Very Vanilla card stock
  • Night Of Navy card stock
  • Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper (soon to be released)
  • Marina Mist Ink Pad (retiring)
  • Always Artichoke Ink Pad (retiring)
  • Sahara Sand Ink Pad
  • Metallic Enamel Shapes (retiring)

Basic Instructions

  • Place a piece of A4 thick Night of Navy into the Stampin' Trimmer landscape orientation, Score at 14.9 cm = 5 13/16". Turn to portrait orientation and cut at 10.5 cm = 4 1/8" Fold on score line and burnish. This will give you 2 card bases with a top fold for portrait orientation.
  • Cut 3 pieces of  the Very Vanilla  cardstock at 13.5cm = 5 5/16"x 9.5cm = 3 11/16" 1 for card front, 1 for dragonfly images and one for inside of card.
  • Using a Sponge Brayer and Marina Mist Lightly colour the centre of the Very Vanilla.
  • Wash the brayer and  refill with Always Artichoke ink and colour the piece of the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Specialty Paper. This adds texture and interest to the central area.
  • Adhere the coloured laser cut sheet into position centrally over the Marina Mist coloured area with Multipurpose Glue.
  • Stamp the dragonfly's onto the Very Vanilla. First part (body) is stamped in Sahara Sand, second step stamp (solid wings) is stamped in Marina Mist for one and in Always Artichoke for the other.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy and Marina Mist and die cut* (READ NOTE BELOW)
  • Die cut another label from a scrap piece of Night of Navy and layer the stamped sentiment over the top.
  • Adhere dragonfly's with dimensionals and apply Wink Of Stella to the wings and the silver Enamel Shapes to the body.
  • Adhere sentiment with multipurpose glue.
*TIPs FOR SENTIMENT
To get ombre effect, ink top half of stamp with Marina Mist and then ink bottom half in Night Of Navy. Stamp as usual.
When die cutting the sentiment place one edge of the die closer to the start of SENTIMENT.
To shorten the sentiment label reposition sentiment under the die to match the first edge and run through the big shot again. Trim the edges (top and bottom just a little) this will give you enough space to show the Night of Navy label underneath.

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Special Guest Jenny Hall

Image may contain: text

Welcome Back everyone 😊
Today I am hopping with the Crazy Crafters Team and special guest Jenny Hall

We The Crazy Crafters have each chosen a project of Jenny's to CASE (Copy And Selective Edit)
You are currently here me me (Kim Oliver) and I have a full list of all participants closer to the end of my blog.

Here is the project I have chosen of Jenny's to CASE.

vintage style

Jenny created her card using the Cracked Glass technique using layers of heated embossing powder.
This was something I haven't tried before, I thought...
Why Not!

Here is my card.
I used the same layout for this technique as it has an old world feel with it that this technique deserves.

Dragonfly Daze

I am over the moon with my first attempt!

Before my next attempt I MUST order some more embossing powder though 😲 lol. I just need to do this some more! It's so much fun hahaha.

I followed Jenny's instructions and layered the embossing powder 11 times, but my crack wasn't sharp. I ended up with more of a crazed effect.
Which I quite like BTW 😍

HERE is Jenny's video showing how she made her card.

Angled View

#KOCreationscards #Crackedglasstechnique #Dragonflydreams #Butterflybasics #Inspiredbynature #Cardmaking #Stampinup

To create the scene I used two stamp sets. Dragonfly Dreams and Butterfly Basics.
I used the Shimmery white card stock to stamp my scene onto.
I masked over the dragonfly after the original stamping. I then stamped the fern leaf over the top. Being masked this gives the effect of having the fern fronds behind the dragonfly.
I coloured the dragonfly using the NEW STAMPIN BLENDS!!!

Sunburst Dahlia - Window Box Thinlits Card - #GDP073

Welcome back crafters!
Today I am sharing another card making project using some gorgeous new items from the Occasions Catalogue.

Most of your who follow me will have seen  me using the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle alot recently...I do adore this set lol  and yes I do use it again hahaha
BUT
I have incorporated the Window Box Thinlits Dies for this card...
This project started with a glimmer of an idea from the colour scheme offered up over at GDP this week.
I love the negative images from this set that can be used for so may things, including the gorgeous box the dies was made to co ordinate with.

#Windowboxthinlitdies #Dragonflydreams #KOCreationscards #Handmadecards #Australianmade #Madewithlove #Saleabration

These colours are just glorious aren't they!

My card project kind of reminds me of  a sunburst Dahlia...

I did say Kind of! lol

Here are the colours that Global Design Project have chosen for their challenge this week.

For my project I first cut out 2 hexagons from the Window Box Thinlit  using Whisper White, I then cut the negative image from one of the hexagons, using the die that fits inside the hexagon shape. The  whole hexagon piece I had  left I ink blended using Stampin' Sponge.
I first used Watermelon Wonder in the centre, then Daffodil Delight around this and then the Emerald Envy all around the outside. I didn't have to be too neat as most of it was being covered with the window piece..But I did blend thoroughly...This made the Watermelon Wonder and the Daffodil Delight look a bit Peekaboo Peach hahaha
But I do like the effect.
I added the Dragonfly to the mix after he was stamped using the same colours.

Inside View

For the card base and layers I used and A4 piece of Whisper White folded in half then cut at 10.5 cm. My layers are Emerald Envy then Whisper White again.

The flowers on the front were created using the Flourish thinlits in Watermelon Wonder and Daffodil Delight  and the Petite Petals punch in Daffodil Delight.
I added Black Metalic Thread to the flowers next to the sentiment as well adding a few Silver Metallic Shapes in the mix too.

All of these items are available right now and if you spend $90.00 from now until the 31st of March you can earn a free item from the SALE-A-BRATION Catalogue.

Falling For Dragonfly's- #CI01

Howdy :)
Welcome back to my blog.
You know one of the things I love about Stampin' Up! ???
I love how everything of theirs coordinates with each other and blends together.
Today's card features 2 different stamp sets + some embellishments from the Cupcakes and Carousals suite.

My inspiration for this card came from the colours over at Colour Inkspiration #CI01. They have a colour challenge this week and those colours are just scrumptious....They look so good grouped together in the picture below

I have used all of the six colours on offer...I decided that these gorgeous colours would make a beautiful background.
So, I sponged each of the colours onto whisper white, blending and building slowly until I got the depth of colour I desired.

This card is going to be part of my upcoming event to be held in my home (N.E Tasmania) For dates and more info please click

I used two stamp sets, can you pick which ones!?!
NO!?!

O.K !

I will tell you what they are.

The background stamp set is from the Falling in Love Suite and is called 'Falling For You' and the Dragonfly and the sentiments are from the 'Dragonfly Dreams' bundle. The sequins and the sentiment plaque I grabbed from the pack of 'Cupcakes and Carousel Embellishments Kit.
The sequins reflect different shades and colours and I think, adds that extra dimension + a little bit more glamour.

Making this card I realised just how versatile Stampin' Up! really is.
Everything works in partnership with nearly ANY product we have or can easily fit with another theme!!
And this new Occasions Catalogue WOW...If you haven't got your copy yet then PLEASE let me know. At the top of my page I have catalogue form requests...Just go there and fill out your details and I can send you a NEW Occasions Catalogue for FREE!

BASIC DIRECTIONS:

  • Cut your card base from Crushed Curry A4 sheet at 10.5 cm  length ways and then score and fold in half.
  • Cut the two sets of layers to fit the front and inside, I just eyeballed them to get my sizing so I had a small edge for both.
  • Stamp the front with the Hardwood Background Stamp 1 fully and one by only stamping half of the stamp up with ink and then gently dabbing away some ink with a baby wipe. Join both sets of layers together.
  • Die cut the oval shape window from the layer that is fully inked and stamped up. Do this by using the second largest plain Oval Framelit die.
  • Cut a frame for this window using Very Vanilla card stock and the Largest and the second largest oval Framelits.
  • Die cut a piece of Crushed curry using the largest plain Oval Framelit Die.
  • Run this oval shape through the Big Shot with the *Hexagonal Dynamic TIEF. (WOW I adore this thing!!!!)
  • Sponge with the Sponge Brayer using Crushed Curry over the top of the embossed oval. Then using an Aqua Painter, colour the inside of the hexagonal (the small part) with Crushed Curry. Once coloured fill some random hollows with Glue from the Fine-tip Glue pen. Let dry!
  • Once dry cut out some of the small inner hexagons. Back this embossed and coloured oval with a piece of Chocolate Chip.
  • Using Water Colour Paper Stamp a Bumble bee from the *Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and 5 bees from the Touches Of Texture Stamp set in Stazon Black. Colour them using Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Marker or your Aqua Painter and Crushed Curry Ink.
  • Fussy Cut them out!
  • Cut a length of Basic Black Bakers Twine (enough to wrap around at least 4 times) Tie the *Falling in Love embellishment in place to the bakers twine.
  • Stamp you sentiment using the sentiment from the *Cool Treats Stamp Set onto Very Vanilla, cut and adhere to back of the embellishment using a Glue Dot.
  • Glue your embossed oval in place, then adhere the front layers with dimensionals to the base.
  • Adhere the other two embellishments in place and then attach Bees in desired places with Glue dots remembering to add one inside :)
