Hello again 😊 and welcome.

As usual my life is busy with my family and my work commitments, but I do love making time for the International Highlights that Kylie Bertucci holds each month. This showcases ideas from around the world PLUS our peers (YOU) get to vote for your favourite projects.

Love is the reason we create, share and give.

My project today stems from my love for a good friend who has been struggling for some time now. I try hard to be there, but I can't always do so. So, I am sending her this to let her know that I am thinking of her and remind her how awesome she really is.

My card base is Thick Whisper White layered with Berry Burst and Marina Mist  topped with Whisper White.

For my focal area I have used a small piece of Sweet Soirée Specialty Designer Series Paper die cut using the Sweet and Sassy hearts framelits. I fussy cut  small posy of flowers and offset them to the side of the heart shape.

I have die cutting the word Amazing from Silver Glimmer paper and the word YOU from Berry Burst. I layered the word amazing with 2 layers of Basic Black just to give the illusion of a shadow and depth.

To finish I have added 3 metallic silver enamel hearts,

Easter Cards and Gift Cartons for the kids - Basket Bunch

Welcome once again Crafters

I am continuing on from yesterdays post about Some Bunny Sweet card using the Basket Bunch bundle.

I created a matching card and gift carton yesterday as a request for another site I am on. This idea had been floating around for a day or two for my children for Easter gifts.

Well I got to it and created their gifts this afternoon

I have 3 children 24, 8 and 6.

The two youngest are boy and girl respectively. They both love my cards and gift and to make them feel a bit special I made these for them both.

You can see all the colours that I used beside this open card picture above.

For the cartons I first made a cylinder, glueing and fast fusing the edges inside so they were facing each other. I then pinched one end shut and fastened with tear and tape and a spot of multi purpose glue (Tombow). I then filled the cylinderswith cadbury caramel  eggs and closed. 

Attaching tags to the tops to finish. 

To create the tags, I used the That's the Tag bundle.

I made a quick FB live video while I was creating these water colour images for the cards. 

You can click HERE to view the video and see some of the water colouring being done.

I stamped them all first on a thick whisper white A4 sheet. Then coloured and die cut them. The ones I didn't use I put inside a ziplock bag and placed inside the stamp case for later use.

I sponged the backgrounds and then mounted them onto the bases using dimensionals.

Somebunny Sweet - Basket Bunch

Well it's nearly Easter here in Tassie.

For me, that means I will have my children home for around 2 weeks...So my  blog posts will drop off just a little bit...I am trying so very hard to get in front for you though and schedule a couple in advance.

This well enable me to spend some quality time with the kidlets and keep some posts happening for you all too... so, fingers crossed.

 Heres a selfie my two took on my phone of themselves lol
They thought they had deleted it hahaha KIDS!

My kidlets are boy 8 and girl 6, I also have a 24yr old but he is no longer of the age where easter bunny is very important in his life lol

I am part of a little selling group, and was asked to create an easter theme product to sell on the weekend. 

I used this opportunity to practice creating something I had in mind for the kids for Easter Morning. 

They love receiving lovely hand made treats from Mum and Dad. 

So I used the request as my trial run for what I had in mind for them both...It really came together so well.

I was a little stumped as to what to put on the card front to start with, the whole gorgeous stamp set from Basket Bunch wanted to jump on there lol. 

But, I was saved!

 I saw a gorgeous card made by Paula Dobson.
She made a gorgeous pile of eggs and lightly sponged her background. So I CASEd Paula and this is what I came up with.

An Easter Treat For Somebunny Sweet

The card base is Cucumber Crush which is a soon to be retired colour :( 

I sponged onto Thick Whisper white using torn paper as a mask to create hills in the background. Other colours used for sponging and colouring were Crushed Curry, Tempting Turquoise, Peekaboo Peach, Perfect Plum and Melon Mambo.

I stamped all of the images onto a sheet of whsiper white, then coloured them all. Once completely dry I die cut them using the matching framelits.

I created a carton style gift bag using the Affectionately Yours DSP in Cucumber Crush. I filled it with chocolate eggs, just like the ones you see laying around the base of the card, before sealing the top closed. 

I used the That's the Tag bundle for the base of the tag and stamped in Cucumber Crush ink the dots around the edge. 

I actually hand printed EASTER along the bottom. I tied the tag on with Cucumber Crush Thick Bakers twine.

I know my children will love these too and especially the choccies lol.

Happy Happenings - Colour INKspiration

My family and myself have been invited to attend an engagement party in around 2 weeks time.

The lovely couple have asked for no gifts! So I found myself in need of a really nice card! 

I know the couple quite well and their style, it is very shabby chic...

I LOVE Shabby Chic...... anyone else!?!

I saw the colours from Colour INKpsiration's creative challenge #CI05 this week and thought it would be a perfect fit to create their engagment card with!
And of course, I made another card at the same time using the same colour scheme.

The one on the left is for the engagement.

I wasn't sure about my back ground choice when I started, so I had a play with a couple of different things...For the Congrats card I used the Hexagons Dynamic TIEF as a stamp with Sahara Sand.
For the Bonjour Beautoful card I used the  Hardwood Stamp and White SU embossing powder.

Both cards have a sentiment from the stamp set called 'Happy Happenings'

I have added 3 little pearl beads from my bits and pieces stash to help finish the Congrats card.

Both cards have a Soft Sky card stock layer for the background.

The lace and the sentiment have both been stamped first in versamark then straight into Saharah Sand then heat embossed with Gold SU embossing powder.

For this card I kept the woodsy theme happening by adding branches, flowers and a tiny little blue bird all from the Best Birds bundle. The branches and flowers have been stamped in Sahara Sand. The flowers have had Blushing Bride applied with a Stampin' Write marker pen. I then pulled the colour out  a little with an aqua painter.

Today's cards have been made for a few reasons.

 The first reason is quite special to me...R.A.K

1. I love sending and receiving cards from friends.
2. To try a new technique....and.... 
3. I enjoy finding new ways to use whats considered waste!

I have used Global Designs Project's Colour Challenge #GDP077 for my inspiration for this R.A.K set.

Now I actually have no idea what the technique is called or even if it has a name BUT Stampin' Up! have quite a few thinlits and framelits that make gorgeous flowers etc... and I have been throwing away the centres parts (petal pieces) for a while now! Then my fearless leaders other half (Bruno Bertucci) posted a little blurb with a pic.

Here is the pic (below) that got me interested in the negative image use...click HERE to be taken to the blog..

Now on this blog the lovely lady who created this design below, does mention how time consuming this is...

I didn't let that discourage me. hahaha!

I also used a piece of scratch paper that I had been 'stamping off' onto, for a card...Most of us know what stamping off is, don't we?

I quite often look at those images and wonder if I could use them, they are normally stamped higglety pigglety and it tends to look pretty darn interesting. 

Okay enough chit chat!

Here are my cards made using all bits and bobs from the Special Reason bundle (pge 42 of the occasions catty) and my scratch paper strip too!

Just a quick note...I am amazed at how different these cards turned out...All made using the same products, and colours...just different ephemera!

 For all of these cards I used an 'Avant Garden' stamp which is a FREE stamp you can get when you spend $90 during Sale-A-Bration PLUS I also used the Special Reasons bundle.

For the background above I smooshed Bermuda Bay onto spritzed water colour paper.
I dried and repeated 3 or 4 times until I had a depth of colour I liked.
I then stamped the Avant Garden spots onto the smooshed colours while the last layer was still wet. I put aside to dry.
I cut out my images from the two colours Peekaboo Peach and Early Espresso which were applied to a left over piece of water colour paper with the smooshing technique. Drying between coloiur applications to get depth of colour.
When cut I left all of the inside pieces intact, along with the die still in position in the paper.
I gently turned over the whole lot and proceeded to add trimmed pieces of dimensionals to the back of each nagative petal and leaf piece.
This card has a really cooling and artsy feel with it..I say cooling because I think of water looking at the background lol

I made the above card first and then the card below.

 For the above card I stamped the Avant Garden spots onto a shimmery white piece cut to 10 x 14 cm, then before they dried I spread the colour with an aqua painter. The card base is Early Espresso with a layer of Peekaboo Peach.

I stamped the flower and leaf images onto the dry shimmery card after stamping off first onto a scratch strip of paper.
I then applied the positive images using the fine-tip glue pen.. I then added rhinestones, just for some glitz :)

Adding the washi tape under the sentiment gave this whole card a retro feel I noticed.

I embossed the Thanks For Everything sentiment in white onto a Early Espresso card base. 

I trimmed up the screatch piece of card and adhered to the early esspresso base. Adding Bermuda Bay bakers twine and some of the sequins (trimmed from a length of sequibn trim) also in bermuda bay finished this card off nicely.

I held the bow in place using glue dots placed under the knot.

The only piece of waste I was left with is the piece sitting below the card!

Sunburst Dahlia - Window Box Thinlits Card - #GDP073

Welcome back crafters!

Today I am sharing another card making project using some gorgeous new items from the Occasions Catalogue. 

Most of your who follow me will have seen  me using the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle alot recently...I do adore this set lol  and yes I do use it again hahaha

BUT

I have incorporated the Window Box Thinlits Dies for this card...

This project started with a glimmer of an idea from the colour scheme offered up over at GDP this week. 

I love the negative images from this set that can be used for so may things, including the gorgeous box the dies was made to co ordinate with.

For my project I first cut out 2 hexagons from the Window Box Thinlit  using Whisper White, I then cut the negative image from one of the hexagons, using the die that fits inside the hexagon shape. The  whole hexagon piece I had  left I ink blended using Stampin' Sponge. 

I first used Watermelon Wonder in the centre, then Daffodil Delight around this and then the Emerald Envy all around the outside. I didn't have to be too neat as most of it was being covered with the window piece..But I did blend thoroughly...This made the Watermelon Wonder and the Daffodil Delight look a bit Peekaboo Peach hahaha 

But I do like the effect.

I added the Dragonfly to the mix after he was stamped using the same colours.

For the card base and layers I used and A4 piece of Whisper White folded in half then cut at 10.5 cm. My layers are Emerald Envy then Whisper White again.

The flowers on the front were created using the Flourish thinlits in Watermelon Wonder and Daffodil Delight  and the Petite Petals punch in Daffodil Delight.

I added Black Metalic Thread to the flowers next to the sentiment as well adding a few Silver Metallic Shapes in the mix too.
