Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Susan Wong

Image may contain: text

Welcome back everyone 😊
I am once again joining in with the Crazy Crafters for a blog hop. This week we are all CASEing the works of Susan Wong

Image may contain: 1 person, smiling, closeup and outdoor

Here is the card from Susan's blog I have chosen to CASE

Bella & Friends for Fancy Friday - Susan Wong

The elements of this card that I was drawn to was something I have used just recently, which was more accidental before than on purpose.. I smudged ink when painting and couldn't cover it so chopped it out with a punch...You can see that card HERE.
The little bite out of the card in my opinion is just so cute and this time I decided it would be used on purpose lol

and here is my card

Hearts For You

#KOCreationscards #Labeleralphabet #Happybirthdaygorgeous #Butterfliesthinlits #Flowers #Garden #Nature #Sequins #Cardmaking Stampinup
I started by embossing the butterfly with embossing paste. I used the swallow tail thinlit from the Butterflies thinlit set to do this with! I mixed the embossing paste with Crumb Cake ink and then spread over the thinlit onto the card, when covered lift thinlit to reveal the pattern. *Wash thinlit and tools immediately!
I cut out the butterfly in vellum and overlaid  this so the embossing peeped through. I trimmed off the tails so that the bottom of my butterfly wasn't past the bottom of mt card.
I stamped the leaf stems in Wild Wasabi and the flowers in Berry Burst using the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.
I topped this with a sentiment 'FOR YOU' using the Labeler Alphabet stamp set and a piece of Berry Burst seam binding ribbon.
This colour scheme was inspired by the Global Design Project Teams weekly challenge.

Aren't they just divine!

Angled View

#KOCreationscards #Labeleralphabet #Happybirthdaygorgeous #Butterfliesthinlits #Flowers #Garden #Nature #Sequins #Cardmaking #Stampinup
My Card base is Thick Whisper White card stock with a layer of Berry Burst card stock.
Using the Berry Burst card stock and tied the Whisper White twine around the card, I tied in a strip of black mini sequins and then tied a bow combined with a Corrugated Element.
I finished the card with some of the black mini sequins glued over the flower centres and a couple of small hearts from the Hearts and Stars Elements.
I used the 1" punch to chop out the half circle from the card front.

Open and Angled View

#KOCreationscards #Labeleralphabet #Happybirthdaygorgeous #Butterfliesthinlits #Flowers #Garden #Nature #Sequins #Cardmaking #Stampinup
For the inside I stamped the same images as the front in the bottom right corner, adding some of the sequins and a small wooden heart.
I adore how this card finished, it is just so sweet and pretty and still manages to remain clean and relatively simple too.

Butterfly Thinlits - CC Team Highlights

Hello everyone 😘

So sorry for my absence this week, but I have had a bit of a back issue that has put me out of action for a most of this week.
I have completed two cards created during the week though, in little snatches of time that I could stand or sit with out pain.
One was made for a blog hop and will be blogged on Sunday.
And the other I am entering it into the Crazy Crafters Team Highlights.

You can vote for my card by clicking HERE

And here is my card

For You

#KOCreationscards #Butterflies #Cardmaking #Stampinup #Layeringsquares #Nature

The base of my card is Thick Whisper White with layers on Weld Wasabi and Whisper White and Basic Black.
This card is a mix of a few stamp and die sets that I have had sitting out during the week.
I have used the Dies from the Butterflies Thinlits set along with stamps from Happy Birthday Gorgeous and Labeler Alphabet and a die from the Seasonal Layers thinlits and another die from the Layering Squares framelits.

#KOCreationscards #Butterflies #Cardmaking #Stampinup #Layeringsquares #Nature

I used embossing paste with the Butterfly thinlit and then cut two butterflies using the same thinlit. One in white and one in vellum. I added glitter enamel dots in Berry Burst for the body of the butterfly. The stamping has been done in Berry Burst and Wild Wasabi. The string is Linen thread that has a Corrugated Element tied to it. I coloured a hear from the Hearts and Stars Elements in memento black.

I do hope you enjoyed my card projects today.

Ink It! Stamp It! blog hop - Technique - Water Colouring/Washing

No automatic alt text available.

Welcome to our Ink it! Stamp it! Blog Hop. This month we will be sharing projects inspired by our favourite Techniques.
You are currently here with me Kim Oliver -Australia
The full line up closer to the end of this post will guide through all the projects and we'd love to hear from you on what your favourite (theme related question)?
I just love water colouring, so that is what I have chosen to show you today.
I used one of out products for the first time EVER today and FELL IN LOVE!!
More info later.
I have added a little pictorial explanation for you to help visualise the wash.

Quirky Critters

#KOCreationscards #Quirkycritters #Stampinup #Watercolourwash #Dazzlingdiamonds #Rubberstamping #Cardmaking

I chose the Quirky Critters stamp set for my projects today. They are just so darn cute! Aren't they !?!
I have used the adorable Narwhal and Pheasant.

OMG Heat and Stick and Dazzling Diamonds.....Squeee WHY haven't I tried this before!

#KOCreationscards #Quirkycritters #Stampinup #Watercolourwash #Dazzlingdiamonds #Rubberstamping #Cardmaking

It looks amazing!

So, after washing the backgrounds, leaving to dry and cutting to size.
I dusted one back ground with embossing buddy.
I then used my versamark re-fill and placed a few drops onto my clear block. Using the same brush that I used for the wash, I wiped the versamark over the colour.
I then poured some Heat and Stick powder over the versamark, tapping off any excess.
I heated this and then poured on the Dazzling Diamonds, tapping off the excess for this also.
I re-heated everything and left to dry.

Quick Visual Aid for Water Washing

#KOCreationscards #Quirkycritters #Stampinup #Watercolourwash #Dazzlingdiamonds #Rubberstamping #Cardmaking

*When colouring the critters try and be as quick as possible when applying the ink and water mix BUT you must build your layers slowly, drying between layers.

I used the stitched shape framelits to cut out my images and backed them onto Berry Burst card stock using the larges scalloped Layering Circle.

Special Quirky

#KOCreationscards #Quirkycritters #Stampinup #Watercolourwash #Dazzlingdiamonds #Rubberstamping #Cardmaking

For this card I used the Ruffles TIEF Embossing folder after the water wash was finished and the card stock wash almost but not quite dry.
*Leaving the card stock slightly damp, helps to keep the embossing bolder for longer. It then stiffens when it dries, so that it keeps it's shape when posting and handling etc.

Quirky Hello

#KOCreationscards #Quirkycritters #Stampinup #Watercolourwash #Dazzlingdiamonds #Rubberstamping #Cardmaking

For the background ephemera I layered some Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon with the Decorative Ribbon Border for the 'Quirky Hello' Pheasant and the Pick A Pattern Washi Tape for the 'Special Quirky' Narwhal.
#KOCreationscards #Quirkycritters #Stampinup #Watercolourwash #Dazzlingdiamonds #Rubberstamping #Cardmaking
To finish I have added some black sequins from the metallic sequins range to the pheasant and Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the Narwhal.

Thank you so much for joining us today. We hope you'll join us again next month to see our projects. To keep hopping around see the list below to see who is up next.

Stampin Dreams Blog Hop - CASEing the Catty

Welcome back everyone 😊
Today I am taking part in the monthly Stampin' Dreams Blog Hop.
You are currently visiting Kim Oliver from Australia.
All of participants are CASEing projects from the beautiful new 2017-2018 Catalogue.

This is the card from the catalogue which I have chosen to CASE and can be found on pg 176

It uses the fabulous Embossing Paste and  the Pattern Party Decorative Masks along with the Feather Together stamp set.

And here is my CASE:

A True Gentleman

#KOCreationscards #Vellumoverlay #Feathertogether #Malecards #Birthday #Embossingpaste #Stampinup #Rubberstamping

Basics of the card.
The card base is Thick whisper white and the layer is Elegant Eggplant.
The embossing paste has been coloured with Elegant Eggplant and Dapper Denim.
The feathers were stamped using differing layers and stamping off before stamping onto the card stock in Elegant Eggplant.
I overlaid the focal with Vellum just to soften the impact of the purple colour and make the sentiment stand out.
I also heat embossed the paste in silver to add sparkle and movement in direct light.

Open and Angled View

#KOCreationscards #Vellumoverlay #Feathertogether #Malecards #Birthday #Embossingpaste #Stampinup #Rubberstamping

The Dapper Denim twine was added along with the metallic sequins just to add some textural elements and interest points.
The inside was created using the Elegant Eggplant and Whisper White in layers. T
o carry the theme through to the inside I stamped a single feather inside, using the same technique as the front.

Hello - Climbing Orchid - #CI13

Hello again 😊
Half way through the school holidays here and I am still managing to create and blog!
Achieving - Whoohoo lol

My post today is about sharing some new products with you.

Embossing Paste ($11.50) and the Pattern Party Decorative Masks ($10.00).
These are what I used to create my gorgeous brick background for today's project.
The embossing paste is the BOMB man! WOW
Just a little bit goes aloooooong way.
Just four small tspoons of paste created over 8 backgrounds the same size as below!
So I will be sharing more of these over the next few weeks as I try to use them up hahaha. Shouldn't be too hard, as I just love creating!

I am also entering this project into the Colour Inkspiration #CI13 challenge.
Image may contain: plant, flower and nature
The colours for this challenge are spring inspired.
They are Sweet Sugarplum, Wild Wasabi, Lemon Lime Twist and Fresh Fig.
You will aslo see where I got my inspiration for my project from after seeing this hehehe..

Hello

#KOCreationscards #climbingorchidbundle #embossing #masking #stampinup #rubberstamping #cardmaking

I was sort of happy with my orchid, but I am going to try to paint them next time instead of stamping. I was hoping for a more blending of colours than what I actually achieved above with stamping on wet watercolour paper and letting the ink bleed. I even covered the orchid in Wink of Stella trying to blend the two colours more hahaha.
Oh well we live and learn. It's all experimentation, right!?!
And believe me....I will be back with this card, but maybe a better version lol
VERY SOON!

OK moving onto the Hows for the background.

To create Backgrounds

You will need - baby wipes, silicone mats, embossing paste, palette knives and ink pads of your choice or re-inkers as well as card stock and painters tape/washi tape.
  • Get your tape strips ready. *If using washi tape stick the strips to your clothes or carpet a few times to remove excess stickiness.
  • I have a couple of silicone mats (a must if you want to mix more than one colour) so I stamped my colour onto the mats, two colours per mat.
  •  Set up your card stock and scratch underlay paper and tape in place, making sure to only tape the edges but at the same time making sure it doesn't slide around.
  • Set your mask up over the top and tape into position.
  • I then added a small tspoon of embossing paste to the middle of each colour block. I then mixed them with my palette knives.
  • (For the bricks above I used Fresh Fig and Sweet Sugarplum.) The colours blended together a little when I wiped them on to create this gorgeous brick colour and also gave me light and dark areas.
  • Moving quickly spread the embossing paste over the top. You can blend the colours together when spreading to create new colours too. Clean your palette knife before getting a new colour so as to not contaminate your mixes.
  • When done remove the mask, clean it and put card stock aside to dry.
  • Repeat steps until paste has been used up.

Open and Angled view

#KOCreationscards #climbingorchidbundle #embossing #masking #stampinup #rubberstamping #cardmaking

After creating my orchid and stems I then built my orchid with dimensionals. I cut a Sassy Heart in vellum and glued this into positon ontop of my brick background.
I then glued orchid into place and the stem pieces under and around the orchid.
I added some Rhinsetone Basic Jewels to finish.

I do hope you have enjoyed my little project today.
It was one of trials and errors but in the end I managed a not so bad card.

Butterfly Basics - Wishes - #GDP096

Welcome back everyone 😊
Yesterday I played once again with embossing paste.
I found some colour inspirations from Colour Inkspiration lol I have a post to write tomorrow for that challenge.
I ended up making a silly amount of backgrounds just from using 1 tspoon of embossing paste for each colour!!! So you will see a few of these backgrounds over the next few posts hahaha

My first project using the backgrounds is with just a small piece used for #GDP096
The challenge there this week is CASE the designer.

Just click her name to be taken to her CASE of her own card

I chose to keep the basic layout from Tanja's card and used the Butterfly Basic's stamp set.

Here is my card

Wishes

#KOCreationscards #butterflybasics #boldbutterlflies #sendingwishes #GDP096 #splatter #colourinkspiration

I used the layering squares framelits to cut my background and ass the white layer behind. I distressed the edges and mounted them together with dimensional.
Using Watercolour paper I blended Wild Wasabi, Fresh Fig, Lemon Lime Twist and Sweet Sugarplum. Once dry I cut the butterfly using the Butterflies Thinlits and the solid butterfly fro the Bold Butterfly framelits.I glued them together and added metallic silver thread behind. I mounted this to my squares using dimensional.
The colours for the embossing paste square are the same as the butterfly.

For my background card front I splattered the same colours over the card stock, also distressing the edges before mounting onto thick whisper white.
To finish the card I glued a couple or three of silver metallic sequins randomly.

Open and Angled view

#KOCreationscards #butterflybasics #boldbutterlflies #sendingwishes #GDP096 #splatter #colourinkspiration

To carry the theme through the inside, I stamped the fern leaf in wild wasabi and the little butterfly with words in basic black.

I do hope you enjoyed my card today.

Magical Mermaid Wishes Water Colouring

Welcome back everyone 😊

Today I am sharing with you a  card using water colours and the Magical Mermaid stamp set.

Close Up of Colouring.

#KOCreationscards #magicalmermaid #watercolouring #cardmaking #GDP095 #fussycutting #rubberstamping #masking

I am entering this card into the Global Design Project weekly challenge. #GDP095
Their challenge theme this week is  Kids.

I have seen masks that you can purchase that give you a ragged edge to ink or paint within. This creates a type of frame.
SU doesn't have these as yet, So I made my own! I just used card stock and tore a ragged edged shape from the centre.

Here is a picture of my makeshift mask.

Pretty simple eh! And it is re-usable! Just let it dry 😁

Here's How.
Focal Background.
  • To hold the mask in place I used snail adhesive all around the edges.
  • I then stuck it to my clothes! lol YES my clothes and the carpet too! I did this to get rid of the excess stickiness, I wanted it to stay in place but not tear any paper when it was removed. I stuck it to the Watercolour paper in the position I wanted.
  • I then inked two blocks with my chosen colours (Bermuda Bay and So Saffron)
  • I sprayed water onto my watercolour paper and also onto the blocks holding the colour.
  • I used my Aqua Painters, as wet as I could make them and washed the colour over the area I wanted for both colours.
  • With the remaining colour on the blocks, I just smooshed it on top of the washed colours.
  • I then used my aqua painter to mix and blend them just a little.
  • I left this to dry.

Magical Mermaid Kisses

#KOCreationscards #magicalmermaid #watercolouring #cardmaking #GDP095 #fussycutting #rubberstamping #masking

For the rest of the focal.
  • While the water colouring was drying, I stamped the mermaid image onto Shimmery White card stock using Memento black ink.
  • I blotted this and then made sure it was dry with my heat tool. I didn't want any smudging!
  • Once the black ink was completely dry, I fussy cut her out.
  • I then coloured my mermaid using aqua painters.
  • Her hair is So Saffron, her skin/body is Powder Pink and her tail is Bermuda Bay mixed with So Saffron.
  • To add extra glimmer I used the Wink of Stella pen.
  • AND just to add a few more highlights along her tail, I used the whisper white re-inker to touch the scales along the centre and down the length of her tail..
  • To complete the scene I stamped put my mask back in place over the watercolour paper. I then trimmed to size and glued the front to the basic black card stock layer..
  • I stamped my images in Tranquil Tide and Sahara Sand.
  • I then added some Pearl basic jewels along the sandy bottom stamped images.
  • I placed the mermaid onto mini dimensionals.
  • My sentiment is also from the magical mermaid stamp set and has been masked so I could split the original sentiment into two and place at the top and bottom of my card.

Crazy Crafters blog hop with Special Guest - Jay Soriano

Welcome back everyone 😊
Today I am joining the Crazy Crafters and we are all CASEing the wonderful works of the talented Jay Soriano of Mitosustampin

Such an honour to be hopping with this man!

CASEing is where we Copy and Selective Edit.
You are currently here with Kim Oliver at this stage. I will have a list of all hop participants closer to the end of this post.
I have chosen to use a set that I have been wanting to break out for some time and just been lacking time to use it!
This is what I have chosen to CASE from Jay's blog

Aaaaand
Here is my project.

A Note For You

#KOCreationscards #customerappreciation #crazycraftersbloghop #woodcrates #woodwordsbundle #woodtexturesdsp #stampinup #rubberstamping #cardmaking #notecards

I used the same stamp set and wood textures DSP as Jay has done.
I just changed up the layout 😊
As I have made 4 sets of note cards so far I have tried to take pictures so that each design has been captured at least once.

#KOCreationscards #customerappreciation #crazycraftersbloghop #woodcrates #woodwordsbundle #woodtexturesdsp #stampinup #rubberstamping #cardmaking #notecards

I do have quite a few more to create as I want to use these as my customer thank you gifts this month. I think they will be a neat gift and so very well appreciated too.
So I need to get cracking! lol

What do you think of the one with the vellum overlay?? I was impressed with that one too, going to add a few more of these to the mix later.

#KOCreationscards #customerappreciation #crazycraftersbloghop #woodcrates #woodwordsbundle #woodtexturesdsp #stampinup #rubberstamping #cardmaking #notecards

I used the Wood Textures DSP to create my crates with. I then measured how wide these little things were and made my cards accordingly.

Basics of Cards

  • For the card base I used A4 Very Vanilla Thick card stock .
  • I  measured 8.3cm - 3 1/4 " and scored down the length of the card.
  • I folded this and trimmed off excess.
  • I then marked and cut at 8.3cm, 16.6 cm and 24.9cm or 3 1/4, 6 1/2 and 93/4 inches. This gave me 3 square cards per A4 sheet.
  • I cut a few sheets of regular Very Vanilla card stock up for the card fronts at 7cm x 7cm (next mark after 2 3/4") and stamped the images you see.
  • I backed this onto pieces of Wood Texture DSP cut at 7.5cm square (3") and trimmed if required to even up edges.
  • The sentiments have been stamped in Chocolate Chip.

#KOCreationscards #customerappreciation #crazycraftersbloghop #woodcrates #woodwordsbundle #woodtexturesdsp #stampinup #rubberstamping #cardmaking #notecards

For the envelopes

It took a couple of goes to get the envelopes at the exact size I wanted but finally I worked it out. You may have noticed that a few seem a little larger. That is why hehehe.
  • I used A4 sheets of regular Very Vanilla card stock.
  • I cut these into 14cm squares (5 1/4") (You can use the left over pieces for the card fronts)
  • Using the envelope punch board I scored the first score line at  7cm (2 3/4") and then repeated the steps as directed on the punch board.
  • This gives an exact fit that also sits nice and snugly inside the crate too.

To continue through this amazing hop please click the name after mine.
