PPA298 – A Sketch Challenge from Ginger Toivonen

#PPA298 – A Sketch Challenge from Ginger Toivonen

Hello and welcome once again to my blog. I am still loving the inspiration from the challenges and this weeks challenge is the above sketch from Ginger Toivonen.

For my card, I am sharing a sneak peek of one sheet from some new DSP's called Affectionately Yours.

 &
Here is my card

'Affectionately Yours'

#Affectionatelyyours #Sweetheartpunch #Nightofnavy #KOCreationscards #Saharasand #PPA298

How I made Affectionately Yours:

  • I cut my Sahara Sand A4 card stock to 11cm x 15.5cm side fold. Then cut my Gold Foil sheet 2mm smaller then the Night of Navy 2 mm smaller again. I cut a small piece on the DSP to 6cm x 8cm and a piece of Night of Navy to 6.5cm x 6.5cm. To enhance these pieces I decide on the gold foil & cut these sheets to be 2 mm larger for both pieces.
  • Using the Sweetheart punch on the navy cardstock...I created a window effect for the gold foil. I lifted this by using the Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • I coated the Expression dimensional with Versa Mark embossing ink the dusted with Gold Stampin' Emboss powder. For a good finish you must heat up you heating tool before applying it in the direction of the powder.
  • After placing my centre pieces in the Sketch arrangement, I glued the sentiment in place using my Multi Purpose glue.
  • With Sahara Sand I punched 1 large flower with the Fun Flower punch and 3 smaller ones with the Petite Petals punch. I grabbed my Botanical Builder Framelits and cut 1 with Sahara Sand and then 1 in Gold Foil to bring the Gold color to the front..
  • I applied Night of Navy ink around the edges of each flower. Using an Antique brad that blended with the gold tones I put my larger flower together. Twisting the Gold foil petals one under the other on every second petal.
  • I adhered the flowers using Dimensionals, then thought they needed a little more Ooomph. So, I reached straight away for my Metallic Sequins....adding a gold sequin the the centre of the small flowers and a few to the cut & layered DSP.

Global Design Project #033 | Colour Challenge

GDP033-Color Challenge

I enjoyed last weeks GDP project so much!
I thought I would see what they were up to again this week.
&
WOW !

The Color Challenge

As you can see from  the color palette above, I was in for a great challenge. One that would again, take me waaaaay out of my comfort zone!
As I have some orders to fill that required bicycles, I tried to combine my orders with the color palette, to see if I could make it work.

This is the first card that I came up with.

'Pedal Pusher'

#Pedalpusher #KOCreations #PrettypetalsDSPS  #GDP033

#Pedalpusher #KOCreations #PrettypetalsDSPS  #GDP033
As I mentioned earlier, I was trying to combine this challenge with a current order, so the first card was complimented by 2 more to make a set of 3!

Here is a group picture

#Pedalpusher #KOCreations #PrettypetalsDSPS  #GDP033

How I made the 'Pedal Pusher' trio:

  • Well first up I grabbed some A4 card stock in Night of Navy, Calypso Coral & Sahara Sand, then thought wow & reached for the Very Vanilla to break it up! I also at this stage remembered my order... so I grabbed the Pedal Pusher stamp set.
  • I was also trying to use up some of my DSPS and I remembered that a particular DSPS is heavily laden with Calypso Coral color and got out the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack.
  • I chose my DSPS sheets to use as backing, cut some Card stock to stamp on and played with layouts...Each card had to be slightly different but still carry a theme.
  • I punched out a couple of decorative labels and cut them in half, using then as an interest piece behind the stamped images.
  • Using some punches for the flowers, one being petite petals. I layered the flowers with the sentiment and burlap ribbon cut. You can see where I punched out a heart using the sweetheart punch. I double layered this with Sahara Sand cardstock behind the pretty petals dsps sheet.
  • I couldn't believe my luck when I found I still had some Calypso Coral dotted lace, so I quickly utilized some of this as well.
I am very happy with how this set finished & I hope you like them too.
Thanks for taking the time to have a look at my blog

Paper Pals PPA297 – A Color Challenge from Jackie Diediker

Paper Pals Challenge PPA297- A color Challenge from Jackie Diediker

Hi again, wow I didn't realize there was so many craft showcases & challenges out there!
It's really amazing!

I have found another bunch of talented people sharing gorgeous creations and challenges. This group are called Paper Pals

      Pals Paper Arts

This weeks color challenge is from  Jackie Diediker

This bunch of colors is not a grouping I would normally put together of my own accord, so this really was a challenge! On their own they are gorgeous, but I wasn't sure how I was going to really make them work together.
I thunk and thunk and then I thunk some more....
&
This is what I came up with.
I am really pleased with it too!

'Little Moments'

#Watercolorwings #Timelesstextures #KOCreations #PPA297

How I made 'Little Moments'

  • I sponged Daffodil Delight onto Whisper White cardstock  12cm x 9cm very lightly & then sponged whisper white over the top to whiten some patches. I then used a mask and sponged again with Daffodil Delight. To finish I grabbed my flourish from the Timeless Textures stamp set and stamped off then on the Daffodil Delight with Wisteria Wonder all around the edges in a random pattern.
  • The on another piece of Whisper White 16.5 cm x 11.5cm, I used the same flourish with Daffodil Delight and the same technique...stamping off onto a scrap page then onto my background in a random manner.
  • I lightly sponged a paper doily with Pool Party and cut it in half.
  • Using the large butterfly from Watercolor Wings I stamped onto whisper white with Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder.
  • I cut a piece Wisteria Wonder cardstock 12.2cm x 9.2cm and placed the layered stamping cardstock onto it.
  • Placing the cut doily onto each corner, I used the snail adhesive to hold it in place.
  • I grabbed a leftover piece of vellum and stamped the gorgeous sentiment on to it and cut to fit the top of the card front. I stuck the vellum by using the snail adhesive on the very edge.
  • I then placed the butterfly over the top and embellished it with lovely flower. I added small Rhinestone Basic Jewels randomly over the rest of the card front.
  • I finished the whole card by adding Wisteria Wonder as the card base and by carrying some of the Daffodil Delight flourish to the inside of my card.

Global Design Project #032

Global Design Project #032

Case the Designer

Well I thoroughly enjoyed my first ever blog hop so much I thought I would try my hand at a Global Design Project (GDP) so I popped on over to the site to see what they were planning for this weeks project and found they were casing Krista Frattin

WOW I fell in love with this ladies style!!
I had a peek at all the other designers take on this beautiful card and thought You can do this just
GO FOR IT!
So I did :)

Here is my card

'For You'

#GDP032 #Birthdayblooms #Timelesstextures #KOCreationscards

How I made 'FOR YOU' :
  • I cut my card front to 11.5cm x 16.5cm and made each layer 2 millimeters larger. Te card base is cut at 12cm x 17cm.
  • I sponged Blushing bride ink using the Stampin' sponge onto Whisper white, firstly spritzing the paper with water so the ink blended nicely.
  • I then use Whisper White ink with the Timeless textures wood grain stamp then embossed over the top.
  • I stamped the large rose from Birthday Blooms and proceeded to colour & blend. I then stamped again using my versa mark embossing ink and embossed. This makes the fussy cutting much easier and helps the item not to tear.
  • I stamped the sentiment using Versa mark ink and embossed with silver embossing powder.
  • I put dimensionals behind the leaves and small flowers but NOT behind the largest centre flower.
  • I used my elegant butterfly punch to punch out my butterflies in silver foil & the Birthday Bouquet pink stripe sheet. I also punched out some confetti hearts too :)
  • I layered Blushing Bride and silver foil behind the Whisper White card front & used Whisper White cardstock again at the base.
I hope you enjoyed my creating efforts today & thank you so much for stopping by.

Screen Divider Folded Card

Flowering Fields

Screen Divider Fold

Hello once again :)
As I am trying to 'blog' at least once a week I would share this card I made a little while ago, using a lovely stamp set called 'Flowering Fields'.
This card was part of a large order, using different types of folds.

This particular fold is called the

 'Screen Divider Fold'

'Flowering Fields'

#Floweringfields #KOCreationscards #WildflowerfieldsDSP #Screendividerfold

How I made this card:

  • I used 31/2 sheets of Whisper White A4 thick Card stock & 3 x A4 Pool Party Card stock.
  • Firstly I scored along 1 A4 Whisper white sheet every 10 cm, then folded the scored lines. When done, this left a 1cm strip to join the 2nd sheet of Whisper White too. I then trimmed the whole lot down to 40 cm .
  • As I didn't actually think of using my Deco labels thinlits I cut each of my panel footings by hand..... DOH!  (that was Homer moment!)
  • I cut to fit 5 panels from the wildflower fields DSP using the Calypso Coral flowers backed with Blackberry Bliss sheet.
  • I also cut 5 Whisper White panels & stamped them each with a different flower...mixing 2 stamps to the 1 inside panel only along the bottom leaving room for a personal message above the stamped area. I finished this by stamping the cute little butterfly onto each panel. Trying to give the impression it was moving along from panel to panel.
  • I distressed the  DSP along all four edges then backed the with Pool Party card stock leaving just enough around the edge
  • I distressed the white panels along each edge before backing with Pool Party. Cutting the pool party only 1 ml larger, so only just enough of the backing colour could peep from behind the distressed cardstock.
  • I then coloured and blended the stamped areas.
  • The words were done using my comp & as they wouldn't fit the Washi Label punch I cut all but 1 by hand.
  • Finally putting all elements together, I added a small bow using Pool Party ribbon & added silver metallic sequins along 3 inside panels.
Made with items that are NOW RETIRING! You can find the link to all retiring products on the right panel.

This gorgeous card folds flat for easy posting too!

CASEing Brian King

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop 17th April 2015

Hi and welcome to my very first Blog Hop!

Tonight we are all CASEing cards from Brian Kings Stampin' Up!® Blog. Copy And Selective Edit.

Here meet Brian!

Hi Brian :)

Brian's cards are just so neat, clean & crisp. Who doesn't enjoy a good clean crisp card! When scrolling through his blog, I noticed on so many of Brian's cards, his love of space & layers. Leaving large areas uncluttered, to bring the most out of any chosen background. All complemented with a lovely layered, contrasting colour that picks up on & enhances some other small detail, or otherwise unnoticed colour.

I chose two beautiful cards from Brian's gallery. It took some doing, as Brian has so many gorgeous creations.
One card was for the colour scheme, while the other was for the layout.
BUT, I chose BOTH for the 'Smashing' Technique' he used.
It really intrigued me! 'SMASHING' the word just rolls of the tongue & I can hear it in my head in an posh English accent, haha! 'Smashing Ol' Chap, just SMASHING!'

Smashing technique:
Where you use stamps to create a background, by randomly stamping all over the page!

So here are the cards I chose to CASE from Brian's fabulous collection & also the colours chosen from Brian's Timeless Textures card (the blue card on the left)

The colours chosen.

And here are my cards,

I call them the

'BEAUTIFUL BUNCH'

#Timelesstextures #Beautifulblooms #Smashtechnique

How I made 'Beautiful Bunch' :

  • For my cards, I first chose the colour scheme, then chose my stamps. A flower from the Beautiful Bunch & the dotted texture from Timeless Textures were used as my background.... then proceeded to 'SMASH' randomly over the page.

Oh what fun !!!
  • I first used Blushing Bride with the dotted texture, stamping in a random manner, then stamped flowers with Pool Party over the top, using the shaded flower stamp & then the small flower in the clearer spaces using Mint Macaroon.

Hmmm... it didn't end up looking random! Oh well it certainly turned out quite pretty :)
  • I thought it needed a lift, so I stamped the large flowers with Whisper White then embossed them with white embossing powder.

As well as lifting the over all design, this really gave some added depth and texture to the paper....
& I love tactile elements on cards !
  • I  cut & stamped the inside linings for each card, leaving a blank area for a verse to be written or stamped later as required.
  • I made the labels for the fronts of each card.
  • I then stamped and punched out my large flowers and glued the linen thread to the backs, also adding the pearls to the centre of each flower.
  • I then put all pieces together and placed my labels and flowers where they looked the best.

I loved the look of the first two cards that I had made,
 I made a bunch more!

My Sea Folly

My Sea Folly

Have you ever started creating with an idea in mind and it just wouldn't happen?!
Friday I received a demonstrator order, one that I had placed the week before.
I opened my box of goodies with such excitement and found my Circle Card thinlits die, along with my new DSP's, cardstock & my Sea themed stamps.
I was over the moon & couldn't wait to get started.

So, yesterday I went to my studio. With the intent of creating one of these 'Circle Cards'....I found an online tutorial showing how to use the die, but ....NO WAY HO-SAY!
I just couldn't think of how I wanted it to look & nothing I did was going to make it happen.
I was distracted!
My minds eye kept picturing the Sea themed stamp sets I had unpacked, and I just had to keep picking them up!
They were calling me to create with them!

SO, I DID
 &
 I created this set,
I call

 'Sea Folly'

Gift Box of Cards

Yesterday I was lucky enough to view some very talented ladies card creations in what's called a blog hop with the creative master Dawn Griffiths, organised by Kylie Bertucci ! My first ever look at a blog hop and OH WOW!
I was so inspired I decided to make this gorgeous set of 5 gift box cards, CASEing one of Dawn Griffith's cards in the process and building on Juan Ambiba's 'Box on Note Cards'.
Each of these cards are C6 size 12cm x 17cm with slightly larger envelopes to accommodate the embellishments.
I calculated the measurements for the Envelope Box  by measuring the cards envelope size then realized that I had to use the last envelope size available on the board and add a second score line. I made the first score as per instruction on the board the added another score line 1 inch in from the first. I did this all the way around the cut 111/2 inch square.

#confettihearts #calypsocoral #envelopepunchboard
